Stout Field Elementary is filled with able, caring teachers. The thing I find the most satisfying about the teachers here is their ability to personally care about each individual student. No student is without a voice and no student is left alone to struggle. The caring and love that permeates through the school is second to none.
I have two children at Chapelwood and have had nothing but a positive experience! The teachers are knowledgeable and kind. My kids have been challenged academically and have had many opportunities for after school activities and clubs. Chapelwood is heavily involved in the community and helps kids and parents with needs. The teachers work well with high ability students and students with special needs.
I was notified that Chapel Glen was an A school this year. While that is great news, I have known for years that my three children were getting the best possible education from wonderful and dedicated teachers. The things that are available to my fourth grader in and after school are examples of why I am a big fan of Chapel Glen. Tutoring, math and spell bowls, as well as computer programming and robotics clubs are all options my sons and daughter can choose from to enrich their learning. The high expectations that teachers have for every student along with the regular work they have to do in class, makes me feel better about sending my kids to Chapel Glen. My oldest is now in 8th grade, and the move to middle school seemed easy for him because of what he learned at Chapel Glen.
Catered to the children of parents on the PTA or that attend every function and volunteer. Which in my opinion is so the faculty do have to do their job or any extra!I bought a house in the neighborhood adjacent to the school.I was not told that transportation for the elementary school was not provided for our housing addition. Told where bus stop was,not that it was only for Middle and High School kids. We have a drop off next to the school or the kids have to walk, the school has refused to provide a crossing guard (15 minutes twice a day) so that our children may arrive safely at school.Kids have almost been hit by speeding cars repeatedly. The designated drop off is utilized by other neighborhood parents who are running late and don't want to wait in the drop off line (which is always backed up due to lack of streamline procedure/access) as they speed through our neighborhood of walkers. The buses don't have any pick-ups in the neighborhood speed through to avoid the 4 way stop traffic.Called for 3 year straight and no resolution. If you want a free glorified daycare, Bridgeport is your place. If you want your child engaged and challenged, look elsewhere. State rating 4/10.
