We had two kids here for two years, 2014-2016. The leadership only cares about test scores, not each child's learning needs. Our advanced child was forced into busy work. The gifted program is garbage. We did have some great teachers. I feel like the teachers do their best in the persmiters they are given. Most of the teachers seem to really care. We were lucky enough to have Dr. Faulk as the principal for a year before he retired. All of the kids LOVED him. He was like a rockstar. The atmosphere of the school seemed drab after he retired.
I think the school lacks in understanding to children with behavioral issues. The office staff is rude and met with the same attitude they are shocked. They talk down to working mothers. The only staff personnel I have met that seems to really care is the school Therapist. They have also seemed to signal out my son because he is different than the other students. I would not recommend this school if your child is ADD/ ADHD or has behavioral issues.
We have been with this school for 5 years. In 2014 the founders were ousted and replaced with an extremely exploitive director. There is a climate of competition, descrimination, manipulation, and oppression. How the school looks on paper is the primary current focus, which is leading to marginalization of the most vulnerable families. Families who aren't ideal to the agenda are being run out. Teacher morale (as well as family involvement) have been declining. To top it all off it is a charter school, so there is absolutely no accountability for what is going on. I recommended dozens of families to this school over the years, not anymore. Sad really.
