2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDuring my years of being a student I would honestly say Elsik was one of THE WORST school experiences of my entire life, the assistant principals and staff were extremely rude and left me emotionally traumatized however, some of the teachers are very kind and patient to students.Student Review7mo ago - Hastings High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe AP's Wheaton and Thompson are so disrespectful to students and parents. They single kids out and degrade them in anyway they could. The teaching in core subjects like math reading and all are not good. They pick and choose who they want to help and don't help. Nothing gets better are has been done good at this school. My child will not be attending this school for her 8th grade year. This school needs to be shut down or get Thompson and Wheaton out the school. They name the school look really bad.Parent Review10mo ago - Heflin Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been attending Heflin since pre K and is currently in second grade. I have never had a single issue with any of his teachers, or anyone for that fact. My son has LOVED every one of his teachers. One of the best things about this school is they have a zero tolerance for bullying. This has always been a fear I have as a mother. Heflin teaches them from pre K that bullying and negative behavior towards others will not be tolerated. The Principal Mrs. Human, always has a smile on her face, and greats the children when she passes them, (My son has even noticed that she waves to younger ones, and encourages all students to do their best. This school has been a deciding factor on me not moving for the past few years.Parent Review10y ago - Taylor High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAlief Taylor = Crowded. The students will carry you to your next class. Just not in five minutes. Staff: great staff members, probably the best. Teachers: easygoing and friendly, can be unorganized sometimes. Classes: Non-intensive work. Not easy to find rooms Sports: very well done Students: student body (can) be obnoxious and misbehaved Lunch: Not well suited for highschool level. Conclusion: ok school with little to no gang violence. Sometimes you feel like your not in the right grade. Needs more seniors in the classroom. Lunch needs to be upgraded for highschool students. Better and more organized. Variety of food, and costly choices needs to be provided.Other Review9y ago - Budewig Intermediate School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStill terrible. My son is in 5th grade here. They didn't even know he had an IEP until I told them I wanted an ARD meeting. Then all of a sudden he has a case manager that I've never spoke with. He said she came in a couple of times for the first time the week before his ARD. I get the ARD done and have his IEP updated. One of the things I added was to have his ghost of a case manager sit with him and help him fill out his planner so I know what assignments he has. I asked his teacher and she made an excuse and told me I need to hold him accountable for it. How about I hold the school accountable? Another teacher just flat out ignored my emails and class dojo chats. This is just so disappointing. This school gets more money because of my special education son and they don't even use it. It's ridiculous to ask me to hold him accountable for something I know nothing about. It's the entire point of the IEP to give me the info I need so I can make sure his work is done. Oh and also, several of his classes have 1 -5 assignments in Schoology for the entire year. How am I supposed to help when I don't know what's going on? I've asked them and they just tell me he needs to be accountable. I'm positive these teachers know absolutely nothing about his disability nor do they want to know. Bullying is also bad from students and teachers. This school sucks. I can't wait to take him out. My son is depressed because of this school. He thinks he's stupid because of this school.Parent Review1mo ago - Crossroads

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagejust average. Teachers should recommend good text books for students able to do self-study well. But textbook are so terrible written compared to college text book for the same kind of concepts. Many students graduating from this school not knowing much basic science like I thought.Parent Review4y ago - Check out schools near 3319 Ashton Park Dr.
