Read what parents are saying about Kerr High Schooljust average. Teachers should recommend good text books for students able to do self-study well. But textbook are so terrible written compared to college text book for the same kind of concepts. Many students graduating from this school not knowing much basic science like I thought.
Posted by a parent on 11/23/2019Horrible, that's it. Don't go here unless you want to feel lethargic throughout your high school career. The amount of stress you have to deal with at a young age is not worth it to go to a "smart people school". Only a few students there are actually smart the rest are just students who complete their work, but with no skill or comprehension. It's basically impossible to be in the top 7% or top 10% because of the class size (only about 10-15 students). So if you want to go to UT or A&M, no hope unless you are one of them. WAYYYY better off going to the high school you are assigned to go to. The school is not diverse either, in regards to race and personalities. It's actually pretty sad seeing people go in excited as freshmans and leaving as seniors extremely depressed and disappointed in themselves. However I will say for some people Kerr was a safe space (a bubble in Alief) for them to be comfortable and be around people who looked like them and thought like them and may have also not been the smartest, but had very good work ethic. If you're someone who's looking for that Kerr may be your place, but you have to have the work ethic to survive. And even then you may feel at the end that it was not worth going.
Posted by a student on 12/3/2018Great preparation for college, and places full responsibility upon student as in college.
Posted by a parent on 11/1/2018Not that great, if you're gonna be honest. You have to basically teach yourself everything and not with the means you'd like. I am seriously regretting being convinced to come here.
Posted by a student on 8/20/2017The teachers do not teach at this school and the after school tutorials are a joke. All the do is give "PAKS" which are huge loads of work they have to get done without instruction in a couple of days. When my child was having trouble in Algebra 2 and went to tutorials, the teacher pointed my child to videos. She didn't try to teach my child. I could have looked up some videos myself for my child to learn. They tell you in the beginning if your child is have difficulties they a have all these meetings and safeguards, but it's not true because my child is out right failing math and not one person has called me. I've emailed her teacher and no response. I called the school and no one gets back to me. They talk themselves up to say it prepares you for college.... BULL, it is not like college. It's a bunch of lazy teachers that don't teach. Now my kid's freshman year is ruined. We choose this school over Alief Early College and it was a mistake. If you are trying to decide between the two... GO WITH ALIEF EARLY COLLEGE.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIman Academy SW can be a great school—If you wanna have a miserable time. Look, it’s not that the school is horrible, it’s the people that come there. The students are untrained from their parents about simple islamic concepts. This is not something for the school to do. The teachers don’t have to teach the pillars of salah in 7th grade. They don’t have to teach how to make Wudu to 8th graders, these are thing THEY NEED TO NO IN 1ST OR 2ND GRADE. And don’t get me started about the adults. The teachers are the lowest on my list. Honestly there are some teachers that I actually look forward to seeing at the start of my day, but even the one teacher that just abuse their power just ruins my day. How can you get kicked out of a class for forgetting a simple textbook left in a locker they NEVER LET YOU EVEN GO TO?? And because of the superstitions of the English teacher, you get reported to the front office for speaking Arabic. Isn’t the goal of the school to be increased in islamic and Arabic knowledge?Student Review7mo ago - Southwest Community Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI usually don't write reviews, but I will take time to do this one. This is a very good school... The academic and day care programs is excellent. I have two beautiful kids in K2 and K5 and my friends, family and I can see great improvement in the kids. My kids went from being shy to making presentations on stage... My children are also being thought the word of God. It takes a village to raise a child and SWCCA give my kids all the love and care they need. I am very happy and will strongly recommend the school to all parents.Parent Review7y ago - American Montessori School
