3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen our son started at Newman Smith HS, it was the the first year back from the pandemic and he happened to be a freshman. He immediately felt welcomed and we could tell that there was something special able the school. What makes Newman Smith the BEST school in CFBISD and NTX is how genuine the teachers and the administrators are. They care, they are concerned and they want EVERY scholar to succeed! Dr. Jimenez, the principal, is spirited, supportive and every engaged in the school and the community. She shows up for everything and is always willing to speak with parents. She also is a parent of a student at the school and treats every student as though they were her own. There is an overwhelming sense of pride and togetherness at this school that makes us as parents feel as though we’ve made the best choice for our son! He’s involved in so many activities at the school and actually looks forward to going every day. Aside from the activities, we have seen our son excel in his grades and he looking forward to attending college in the next two years. We really can say enough about Newman Smith, it has become a second family for us.Parent Review7mo ago - Long Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school has been exemplary and works hard for our children each and every day. For the parents that complain about their experiences here at Long, their reviews are over 10 plus years old, and it should not apply for today, in 2023. Parents are here for a brief time, then gone. Same for some of the teachers and principals as well. I encourage the parents to get involved in their students life at Long. It makes a difference in their behavior towards admin. and especially towards teachers. Don't blame others when it is your job as parent to make sure that your child succeeds. The school can only be as good as the community that supports it.Parent Review1y ago - Sheffield Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think this school is great. My son came from another school in the district and he is way more challenged here than at the prior school. The teachers I have come in contact with communicate with me well on everything. They do offer year books, I get the paper about ordering one every year. I think if you are an involved parent this is a great school. I help with classroom activities and field trips so I am in this school often. Not a huge fan of the principal but she not bad either. Pick up and drop off are busy but so is every other school in the district talking to other parents.Other Review8y ago - Check out schools near 18821 Tupelo Ln #18821.

"Every couple months a crew comes and tears up the intersection at one end of my block for a few months. Eventually they fix it, but a couple months later they come back. This has been happening for two years now. "

"If you don’t like walking your dog on a leash to you’ll fit right in around here. It’s not great because people like hauling it down side streets to avoid the constant construction that slows down the larger streets around here. But at least if your dog gets hit by a car it will probably die quickly thanks to the speed that people are driving. "

"You will 70% step on poop. Living in an apartment complex, there are plenty of owners who will allow their dog to defecate, pee and throw up in elevators and stairs. Irresponsible owners and sometimes untamed/unsocialized dogs. I would beware of coyotes and keep an eye out for scraps left by homeless people near the transit. "
