From the first week the teachers all seem to know every child by name. Students are greeted each morning with an all-school assembly with drumming, singing, a welcome message by the Principal, and the school rock band rocking out. Its a fantastic way to start the day! I liked that they had an arts and music program and that all of the kids were very welcoming to one another. "It’s a college area, so unless you’re in school I wouldn’t advise living here. Places are affordable the best if you have a roommate to make it easier but unless you’re in college, there’s no point of living here."

"Very dog friendly.there are a lot of dog owners who live in the area and walk their dogs. I think residents are very welcoming of dogs. However, yards are typically small don’t offer much space for dogs. Houses are typically smaller too, which is important to keep in mind with many dog breeds "

"It seems less safe than it is. Oakland is almost completely college students, and the police patrol quite often, so it's not uncommon to see several police cars out at the same time. It is dirty and there's broken glass everywhere, but the insides of most places are livable (for a college student's standards)."

"I grew up in this neighborhood and it is close to everything. Walking distance to some pretty good restaurants and a short ride into town. A nice view and and short walk to the park, library, museum and universities. Parking is the only issue. "

"Oakland is mainly Pitt students, so if you're a student, it's a really fun place to live. If you're not a student or friends with any students, you can probably get a cheaper and nicer place in a different neighborhood. "

"I've lived here for two years and love the convenience. I can easily walk to many restaurants, pharmacies, a couple grocers, and even a hospital. Plus, there are many easily accessible buses. "
