2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't know how people can rate this school high, and make it out to be one fantastic school? I am a parent of a student. And the times i have been in that school I am forced to see savage fights at the end of the day. Or even in front of the office with 4 girls. With no security around that time i might add. The teachers are "Worksheet" teachers, Meaning they give out worksheets with there textbooks and call it a day. I wouldn't send my dog here. Good Luck parents. Alot of the parents dont even step into the school, let alone know what there kids are doing. The Principal I will admit, Is a very nice man. Now only if he weeds out the kids who go because they wanna have a good time, and the ones who want to learn.Parent Review13y ago - Brown Henry A School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs co-founder of the Friends of H.A. Brown I came in knowing how wonderful the school was due to my experience as a student teacher in the Fall of 2011. Many of the teachers and staff have been working at the school since then and some even longer. The low turn over creates a welcoming, comfortable and home-like feel as the students know the teachers from kindergarten through middle school. Principal Carnivale has implemented many important changes that have increased attendance, student attention, and an engaged student community. All students have computer classes, visual art, physical education and music with the opportunity to take string and woodwind instrument lessons. The Friends of Brown and the Home and School Association have been working collaboratively towards fund raising goals and student incentives and events. Volunteers have kept the library open for three years now providing many of the students the opportunity to borrow books, and this year we have added story reading to classes during their library time. The school represents a rich diverse ethnic body between students, teachers and staff. There are many Spanish speakers as well as a range of varying Chinese dialects and Vietnamese being spoken within the building. It certainly takes a village to make this school the diamond in our neighborhood and it is worth it! I am more than excited to be able to enroll my son when he is of age.Other Review6y ago - Kensington HS

"nothing. I want to move out this block. unsafe condition. too much noises with motorcycle. neighbors are rude "

"Not enough convenience stores. There's only one called Quick Stop and it's terrible. Food, service and safety are horrible at this store. There is only one safe park to go to in this area which is Conrad Square Park and the pizza places are lousy including Pizza Brain which is too high priced. No laundromats close by and there used to be two of them on Frankford ave in this area. I lived here my whole life and this area has gone downhill and the "New" restaurant up the street "The Pickled Heron" is ridiculous with prices that are very un affordable!! These places belong in Center City not in a neighborhood where people work hard for their money and deserve better!!"
- Ben s. e.
- 12y ago
"Great new and trendy neighborhood with excellent transportation to the city!!! Also, lots of Green homes in the area and of course great nightlife on the Frankford Corridor. This area is the new northern Liberties at half the cost."
