What Locals Say about Olde Kensington

  • Trulia User
"Some people seem to pick up their dog’s poop. But, then again, some people seem not to pick up their dog’s poop. These are the two options that I have seen in this community regarding dogs and their poop and the owners picking up after them."

"I do not have a dog, but in this area people always pick up their dog poop and if I had a dog, I would love to walk around the neighborhood with the dog"

"Nice restaurants and bars, up and coming. Community feel. Pretty safe. Nice parks. Usually there is parking on most steers. Lots of places to walk - decently clean but there is sidewalk trash. I have enjoyed living here. A nice little pocket of the city. "

"There are a lot of festivals and art markets in the summertime. A lot of great restaurants. It’s getting over gentrified though."

"I work from home but getting anywhere from here is super easy. Buses, septa, and regional rail from Temple."

"Before we were invaded by all this new construction and new people this neighborhood was quiet it was parking everywhere and it never took more than 5 mins to get from point A to point B. If you love living in a “refurbished neighborhood” where they are taking over and making our own neighborhood unrecognizable loud dogs everywhere and pooping in front of your house and the owner not cleaning up behind their pet or neighbors having their trash everywhere than this is the neighborhood for you "

"This area has it all -- cool restaurants and cafes like LaColombe, Frankford Hall, Reanimator, etc., easy parking, walkable to Super Fresh and the Piazza, easy access to Girard Ave. trolley, Market-Frankford el, and several bus routes. You would think residents, old and new, would treat their investments here with pride. Unfortunately, most residents care little about the curb appeal of their homes. Trash and other debris line the sidewalks and gutters. Leaves pile up and are never picked up. Weeds are allowed to grow knee-high in summer. Residents allow circulars to pile up on their stoops and simply step over them. Residents put out recycling carelessly, allowing it to spill or be wind-strewn into the streets. And no one seems to care. Until this attitude changes this area will never be considered "nice.""
