8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved here for the school district 15 years ago and it has exceeded our expectations, from Paumanok to West Hollow and High School East. Communication from the school was always excellent and the principals, assistant principals and teachers were always attentive and gave my children extra learning opportunities where they could thrive. The district also offers every activity and elective you can think of and, if a club or interest isn’t represented, it’s easy to start one. My oldest will be attending an Ivy League university next year, as are many friends. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt's a good school and I like it but the adults there jump to conclusions way too much and they don't always listen to the full story. Honestly the principles are nice but don't trust students. The teachers don't and some won't believe you about stuff you tell them. And the principles get you in trouble with your parents, other kids, and other teacher and if you try to fight back they won't listen and give you detention. "There are no sidewalks to walk dogs, so every one just let's their dogs poop on your lawn. Found a beautiful neighborhood in Florida with sidewalks and poop bag stations. Taxes are much less, and we're leaving Long Island."

"I have grown up in Dix Hills and I have raised my family here. The school system is fantastic and we are 20 minutes from everywhere because the parkways are right here. The local restaurants are great and the shopping is convenient. It is a very close knit town and there is a lot of involvement in sports and activities with the kids. We have Tanger Outlet and the Whitman Mall close by as well as shopping on Jericho Turnpike. There we have electronic and sport stores, restaurants, fast food, Macys, Home Depot, etc. Then up the road is Costco, the new Lowes, Target, Home Depot, Home Goods, The Guitar Center, Starbucks and plenty of grocery stores everywhere! We are welcoming Northern Farms up the road! The homes are beautiful and the neighborhoods are well cared for. I recommend Dix Hills highly."
