2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey don’t have enough resources for children who are in need of special education classes and children with special needs in general. The psychologist was only there one day of the week and some days she was there she didn’t always get to see the children. You can’t walk your child to class or do drop-ins to check on your child. There are not enough activities for the kids to participate in.Parent Review1y ago - Oak Park Preparatory Academy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOPHS is currently suffering from a rapid turnover of school leadership & staff. This has been a problem for almost a decade, but when literally EVERY administrator is new and then leaves the next year (or mid year… even when they signed a two year contract), that tells you something. There are still some outstanding staff members, but as they suffer inconsistencies from above (which leads to complete confusion of policies/procedures and chaotic student behavior)… unfortunately the staff is losing their best and struggling to recruit. Last year several classes were taught by subs for the entire school year. Something has to be done to support administrators and staff so that they don’t feel so exhausted and demoralized. More money and more PEOPLE are needed to carry the heavy load and correct this negative path that this school is on. (Additional note: The building is OLD and extremely outdated. This is a functional struggle, safety concern, and something that adds to low overall morale. Updates are long overdue.) All this being said, many of my students have said that this school is better than others that they have previously attended - usually in Detroit.Teacher Review7mo ago - Check out schools near 21931 Kenosha St.

Happy to see Oak Park added new kid-friendly and dog friendly parks in 2019. A nice walk or short bike ride to downtown Ferndale or even downtown Berkley as well. "
