6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI believe the children are still too young to take on the amount of independent learning that T.J. Connor expects them to do. I would like to see more engagement on teaching lessons and reviewing them afterwords. Also, the teaching methods are based more on just getting correct answers and not really explaining what they are learning. You as a parent would have to make the initiative to explain to your child the meaning of the material, than them just knowing what the answer is. There are great resources available to the students, such as EACH student has a ThinkPad assigned to them, they have Smart Apps that teach the students and the S.T. Math App can almost replace for example the role of a Math Teacher, however Intervention teachers for Math are greatly needed! The staff are friendly. The PTA are very involved with the students, however their fundraisers are practically the same as other Districts and makes fundraising more competitive. I believe the PTA should communicate with other neighboring Districts on their fundraisers to offer more variety in Monroe County. The PTA is great at doing events for the Students and making sure the Holidays are celebrated! The teachers escort the students to their busses or crosswalk and they remain with students who are car side pick-up which is great for the safety of the children! The nurse is awesome with students who are sick, have allergies or hurt & she will call you to let you know if anything happens to your child or concerns, she will request for you to pick up your child when they are ill, which is very appreciative. The school cafeteria food is great and on Friday’s they have Salvatore’s Pizza! The school library highly encourages reading and offers Scholastic Book Fairs in the Library! The school has security cameras and often have the Police visit the students to teach the D.A.R.E. program. The school recognizes the role of the male figure, as there are students who come from broken families or do not have a male figure to look up to, every beginning of the school year male figures are asked to volunteer their time, like fathers and grandfathers to greet the students with a high-five or to give encouraging words as they enter the school! Diversity is embraced and respected. In memory of the belated student Kael Nicolosi a friendly buddy bench was placed on the playground.Parent Review3y ago - Wheatland Chili High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAwesome school & community. Your children get the attention they need here, no getting lost in the crowd. Such a great group of kids at this school!! So many opportunities to play sports, no getting cut from the team. Scottsville is a great place to raise a family, one of the few small towns left in the rochester area. I know all of my kids friends and their parents. Wouldn't change a thing at this school.Parent Review6y ago - Check out schools near KELLEY Ave.

"We feel safe! The school system is good and if you prefer private schools there are several. We have plenty of grocery stores to choose from. The only downside is that we have limited public transport. We do have several stops to use the Light Rail. But you need a car to access the Light Rail."

"Don’t leave your kids alone. I didn’t realize how bad the areas were and there is drug use in bushes and Walmart seems to be flooded with people dumping trash out of their cars and shady people doing shady things . It seems to be everywhere. "

"It is diverse- there are families from all over the world. It is easy to access the city via 83. It is quiet and safe but also it walkable if you are looking for grocery, gym, restaurants, etc. There are lots of places to hike and enjoy being outside. "
