4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm giving this school a one star because I got bullied at this school every single day until I moved, I would cry every single day but the teachers andthe principal would act like were invisible. I was not the only one bullied at that School There was this girl I used to know THAT WAS in my class that was bulled to by the same person me and this girl would always tell the teachers and the principal they would always say, "stay away from them, ignore them" but how are me support to ignore them is we are in the same class the would be quick to remove some from the class are expelled someone that misbehaving i class but will be slow when it comes to bullies. in this school, there would be salsa dancer that would come and teach us how to dance and I was partnered up with the kid that would bully me he wouldn't even touch my hand so he was acting all weird so we have to switch partners I hate this school and will always hate this school this was the place my life was Ruined were I felt helpless I move and went to that school thinking it would be good school since I didn't want to move but I was wrong I should've just stayed and gone to my old school there I wasn't bullied or made fun of because of my looks this is coming from a student that went to that school for one year and moved away. I would use to get hit by a boy at this school but no one will say anything except my mom, teachers act like bullying Is ok.Student Review3y ago - Bates Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have so much respect and admiration for the teachers, counselors, and staff at Bates. We had an amazing first year and were so pleasantly surprised, given the bad press Salem has received in the past. Mr. M is an incredible principal and impresses me every day with his love for his work and his love for those kids. He's going to take that school to even greater places!Parent Review6y ago - Carlton Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCarlton School is currently being run by a principal who, in the name of high-stakes testing, gives up on quality teaching in order to teach to the test. Open responses all day before the ELA MCAS? You betcha. Extra hour of math leading up to the Math MCAS? Yep. I have watched my child change drastically this year, and not for the better.Parent Review10y ago - Horace Mann Laboratory

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a teacher at Salem High School for more than 10 years, I have found the school community to be a supportive and respectful space. Many teachers offer extra hours beyond what is required to offer students extra help and support. We offer an extensive amount and variety of curricular and extracurricular opportunities for students to take advantage of from our award winning ROTC program, extensive hands on lab opportunities (aquaculture lab, freight farm, school garden, hydroponics), loads of AP level courses in all subject areas, music program, automotive, electrical, building and home repair, TV studio, culinary program, not to mention all the after school activities. We are a school that serves all students.Teacher Review6y ago - Witchcraft Heights Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is in first grade and loves Witchcraft. My daughter struggles with reading and they were quick to address that she would need supplemental support and offered after school tutoring in small groups. I am an involved parent, there are a lot of activities and events geared towards bringing everyone together. I was hesitant at first too, I read all of the reviews, and I don't have the same sentiment as others.Parent Review1mo ago - Collins Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a really bad school. Admin does nothing to help if you are getting bullied, harassed, etc unless you get a parent involved. They have no time to fix girls bathroom sinks and only 1 works. If a student is struggling all they do is yell at them. I would not recommend this school for anyone.Student Review1mo ago - Salem Prep High School

"There is great access to public transportation all around Salem. The traffic is a nightmare though. We commute to Woburn daily and must leave an hour and a half early to get there. That is the downside. Traffic in and out of Salem is horrible most days too. You have to know the back roads to get around fairly quickly "

"Putnam St. is a drag strip for commuters trying to avoid the traffic lights every 500 feet. If you have pets the Saturday night fire crackers and m80s will have every dog in the area barking when everyone is trying to sleep followed by the sirens of the police. Salem is a party town were older and handicap people aren't protected."
