6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm going off memory and that's from the 90s. My basis for comparison was my old High School in Illinois that was phenomenal and even today on Niche ranks 10/10. But moving to Mass and going to Oliver Ames was most certainly a big step down.1: curriculum, particularly math, was Saxon. This made it extremely difficult for students not already in this acute method to adjust. I was extremely ahead in some areas but extremely behind in others.2: In general it had a big, Townie atmosphere. Look the kids grow up with eachother and that's ok. But they definitely 'took care of their own' when it came to sports or scholastic opportunities. In Illinois I was being recruited for basketball. At OA, regardless of what I could do and how much better I proved to be, the town kids got the nod. 3: I will say I got I to a GREAT college and have an OA diploma. But me going to that college had everything to do with my experience in Illinois. And further, while I was clearly behind with certain subjects in college, I at least had the opportunity to fight myself for my opportunities and to learn. Overall, back then at least, it was a very townie, mediocre school. Some nice friendly people but very local. My options at the time from my parents were there or private school - Xaverian Brothers.. In hindsight, I definitely would have been better served going private.Parent Review1y ago - H H Richardson School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been in this district for two years and we have two of our four boys in this school, seeing them living the house everyday with such joy and smile on their faces to go school speaks volume of how great this school is and the environment . Personally I have such an amazing experience with their teachers with communication and how ready they are available to listen to your concern and follow up with you to ensure your satisfactory as a top priority.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 9 Seaver St.
