6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had two kids go through this school, last graduated in 2016, and they were extremely well prepared for college and life. One went on to become a Teacher and one went on to Medical School. This school teaches kids that they can do it all. My kids were in band, robotics, soccer, speech, show choir, art, archery and academics. They were taught to be leaders in each of their chosen activities. The teachers were very supportive and did not chastise kids for wanting to be in numerous activities. I have found that their friends who did not do as well did not get involved. I think that is the key to this school. I also noticed that SAT and ACT scores are not as high to other schools in our area but most kids that graduated from this school and went on to college had higher grades and accomplishments due to all the responsibilities they have learned to manage.Other Review3y ago - Vernon Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome of the teachers at this school seem too busy to take the extra time to work (academically) with my son who has been diagnosed with ADHD and Non-Verbal Learning Disorder. However, most of the teachers are friendly, professional, effective and dedicated. My son has had some behavioral issues and the school usually disciplines him swiftly and fairly. "Marion is a fairly safe town, grocery stores and small shops are within a short driving distance, lots of restaurants. Just keep a safe eye on your kids if you have any. While Marion seems like nice side of Cedar Rapids, I have seen in the news that other towns in Iowa and surrounding cities have experienced young women, college girls, teens, even kids gone missing. Always best to stay safe even in nice neighborhoods!"
