Read what parents are saying about Marion High SchoolI had two kids go through this school, last graduated in 2016, and they were extremely well prepared for college and life. One went on to become a Teacher and one went on to Medical School. This school teaches kids that they can do it all. My kids were in band, robotics, soccer, speech, show choir, art, archery and academics. They were taught to be leaders in each of their chosen activities. The teachers were very supportive and did not chastise kids for wanting to be in numerous activities. I have found that their friends who did not do as well did not get involved. I think that is the key to this school. I also noticed that SAT and ACT scores are not as high to other schools in our area but most kids that graduated from this school and went on to college had higher grades and accomplishments due to all the responsibilities they have learned to manage.
Posted by a community member on 3/10/2021As a former student and racial minority I can attest to the fact that Marion is one of the least racial diverse schools in the area (due to its size and location) and minorities are not made to feel at home. Going there I suffered daily micro-agressions and a general lack of tolerance for anything that did not fit within a white, heterosexual, and or athletic realm. This school will not prepare a student for a the globalisation of our society or even college for that matter.
Posted by a student on 3/26/2015I have one student currently attending Marion High and loves his teachers. They challenge him and encourage him to continue to pursue his interests. He is being well prepared for college and has already acquired college credit. Communication with teachers is open and quick to respond if I request information. So far in the first year, we have enjoyed our experienced.
Posted by a parent on 3/5/2014As a parent of one gifted and another special needs child, I am sorely disappointed in our school district. Our special education program is ran as if all disabilities are behavior disorders and a gifted child is not coached or counseled to reach their true potential. The AEA does little to intervene and support/accommodations are not administered. You will hear "we don't have money for that" and "outside contract hours" often here.
Posted by a parent on 6/10/2011As a graduate, I feel like Marion HS is able to offer large school opportunities with small school comforts. It seems like there are less political battles within the system than other schools and kids are able to take advantage of opportunities versus being turned away without a chance. I also feel like the smaller size allows students to gain confidence without as much judgment/trial as larger schools often do.

I plan to keep them there as many years as I can get the attendance exception!Parent Review6y ago - Emerson Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat I love most about Cedar Valley Christian is the family feel. The community at this school is our second family. I feel safe entrusting my children to the staff and my children love their school. They are being challenged, but also nurtured with a Christ-centered education. As a parent, I feel comfortable talking with teachers and staff about my child's needs and I know they care about my kids. There have been many times I have been given great advice from the staff regarding my children, and I have seen them being cared for and prayed for by the office staff. There is no school like Cedar Valley!Parent Review11mo ago
