6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLack of proper communication.Lack of following procedure that they themselves suggest. If you have a special needs please avoid their CSS and do your research. My son was so frail, thin and covered with bruises from incorrect procedures (have the emails to back this up)If you yourself are a special needs adult this will make it even worse. For your child’s safety and your own peace of mind look elsewhere. My son regressed in feeding, potty and refused any cups. They tried to put multiple changes on him in a short time. I pulled him out early after witnessing with my own eyes them being negligent on school grounds and confirming with his bus that when they pick him up what I saw is what they also see even tho they stated themselves in email it would not occur again. My son has regained his lost weight no longer waking up screaming in terror and is on day three of his sippy cup. I’m autistic myself and I will be a voice to reckon with when it comes to my youngest until he can speak fully for himself. I’ve seen put in the paperwork to transfer him so hopefully I can have peace of mind when he returns to school in the fall. The school was unable to apologize for their actions and instead stated they were sorry for miscommunication to which I said there was none you guys said to do such and such to help the backpack after he was badly bruised from the weight of it on his small body and you guys did not. Since you guys are unable to take responsibility, I have no intentions of letting this go until a formal apology is given for the schools negligence.Parent Review2y ago - Mayport Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has had a great experience at Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School. It was apparent to us on day one how invested the teachers and staff are in caring for and teaching these students. The staff there work hard to create a great learning environment and unique opportunities through clubs, in-class projects, and community involvement. The hands-on responsibilities of caring for and understanding the marine life provide them with not only a rich learning environment but, real-life skills. From their academics to extracurricular opportunities, Mayport is a great environment that is welcoming and supportive. I've seen first-hand the dedication of the teachers and staff there to ensure a positive and enriching environment.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 1148 Panuco Ave N.

What Locals Say about North Beach

"Good area mostly because it’s pretty safe and close to the beach. Neighborhood isn’t friendly to neighbors. People aren’t courteous and kids vandalized my property. "

"I love the schools the neighborhood is great and the crime rate is low I would definitely recommend this neighborhood to someone "

"None, except the local habits that have become like an institution: private impromptu fireworks at the boat dock every July 4, but can also sit on the dock and watch numerous displays up and down the intracoastal sans the crowds and traffic; golf carting to a friend’s house with a cooler. But mostly just quiet, each to his or her own. It’s wonderful."

"Jacksonville is a large geographic area and North Beach doesn’t have easy access to freeways. Commuting is not fun. "

"Besides being within ez walking distance to elementary and middle school, there are many outdoor ways to connect with nature in this area, including Modesky Park and the Oak Harbor boat ramp and park, where you can bird watch, or put in a canoe or kayak to row the marked trails. So much nature to experience here. Is it perfect for everyone? Probably not. But it was perfect for me and my kids. From 1998 to now, and now it’s a great place to ease into retirement. No demanding HOA. Key to why we love this very unique and somewhat, in a beautiful way, eccentric neighborhood. If you’re not an average Jo, you may love this place as much as I have these last 25 years. "

"Specifically regarding the Oak Harbor subdivision: If you enjoy simple, outdoor activities with young children (picnic, walk, bike, fish, swing, etc.), Oak Harbor is fabulous. Creative teens can also find plenty to do, but if they go looking for trouble, they can find that here as well, almost as easily. High school is a real trek, but elementary and middle school are super convenient. So pros & cons, for sure, like everywhere. I think it’s a perfect place for young folks on a budget with young kids to get started (and no HOA—good for creative homeowners!)"
