If your student is lucky enough to be placed in the GT program, they have quality teachers and curriculum that challenges them. If not they are placed with substandard teachers who are the only ones willing to work for the low pay. These teachers are combative and often hold grudges against students and create problems to then punish. Students routinely get ahead of the curriculum in the regular classes and then get bored all term. These bored students are more likely to act out and then unqualified teachers with no training begin suggesting they have severe behavioral issues that should be medicated. It bothers me to see how good kids are pushed into frustration and the staff only circles the wagons rather than discipline its own members. Consider finding an alternative to this school, especially if you don't have the time to home school your kids, because you'll have to even if they are enrolled at Southeast Elementary, because they are unlikely to be challenged.Teacher Review1y ago - Vikan Middle School

"Closer access to the light rail would be ideal. I would prefer to take that to work but I would either need many bus transfers or have to drive almost to my work. Also, there needs to be a more direct way to Pena Blvd without having to pay the tolls. "

"It's not unique anymore it's over crowded, they build too many house but don't update the roads, they keep building even though the schools are overcrowded. Everyone's taxes are jumping sky high to pay for all the city maintenance fees for the new stuff. Our older community is suffering. I grew up in Brighton, and as an adult I have married and established my life here. I feel pushed out from this new growth, it's disgusting. I wouldn't raise a child here, i wouldnt put them in the school system. "

"Great community with friendly people and lots of community services. Brighton has the feel of a small town even though it is a popular and growing city. Lot s of places to eat and things to do in town. You are close to nature but have the benefit of being 10 minutes away from DIA and 20 minutes to downtown Denver."
