7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageM-A is an impressive place, especially given the extreme socioeconomic diversity and varying high school readiness of its student body. The curriculum provides for courses ranging from remedial to AP and beyond. There are extensive resources for academic help (ranging from office hours to after school help to peer tutoring), a huge number of clubs and extracurricular activities, highly competitive athletics, nationally-ranked debate, award-winning orchestra and jazz bands, the list goes on. Students are given opportunities to participate and excel regardless of family financial situation. And this is borne out in the college outcomes - the majority enter college, and many go to Ivies, Stanford, MIT and top UCs. Most importantly, I have found that the teachers work hard and really care about their students - not just their academic outcomes but their entire well-being. During the pandemic, many teachers went well above and beyond to ensure that their students' mental and physical health was secure. It is a hard thing to measure, but, as a parent, heartwarming to see in action.Parent Review1y ago - Sequoia High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSequoia High school is a beautiful campus but needs a change in its educational system. It's unsafe, and the curriculum is very limited. My daughter was a student of this school and couldn't graduate because the classrooms were a mess. I have relatives in Arizona, and they tell me how well-structured the HS is in their cities. I feel jealous of my relatives because we don't have better schools in the Bay area, and of course, I can't afford private schools.Parent Review1y ago - Clifford Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur children attend Clifford School today (Dec 2021) and have been there since kindergarten in 2014. Our experience at Clifford is overwhelmingly positive. The community and its influence have been a strength of the school from the beginning of our experience. Families are helpful and many are involved in fundamental ways. We have a dedicated, loving principal who has been part of the administration for several years. He has brought consistency and clarity through various challenges and, certainly, pivoting for COVID. There has been exciting evolution at our school as well, towards bringing in more elective options for middle schoolers, advanced math, restorative justice, and a breadth of social emotional learning. The diversity at this school, from income and race to abilities and learning differences, is rich and reflects the reality of our lives. In a world of great challenges and fierce competition, for a child to learn and grow in a nurturing and diverse environment such as that found at Clifford, we are fortunate.Parent Review2y ago - Garfield Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGarfield is a school that has gone through a major overhaul in all aspects since its reinstatement into the Redwood City School District in 2010. Very skilled leadership and teachers were brought in to address the necessities of the school. Teachers work tirelessly to make sure that students are safe and learning at high levels in Language Arts, Math, Science, and social emotional well being. Additionally, teachers and staff have gone through training to address the emotional needs of students so that students are able to navigate and cope with their own emotions. Moreover, the family resources are above and beyond what is offered at other schools with a highly trained mental health team and additional community partners that offer food and produce, family counseling, and parent trainings to help improve the overall family dynamic outside of the classroom. Garfield has had a difficult history and reputation to overcome but it has made leaps and bounds with the leadership and teachers that are in place right now!Other Review4y ago - Hoover Elementary School

Parent Review7y ago - John F. Kennedy Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kid is loving school and that's all I really cares about. His teachers are kind and caring and while Roosevelt might not be the most academically rigorous, he's learning to love learning, which I think is more valuable. His class is racially and socioeconomically diverse, which has taught him the value of difference and flexibility. I couldn't imagine a better place for my kid than Roosevelt.Parent Review8mo ago - Taft Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy niece was in kindergarten a few years back and decided she was done with class. She walked out of the classroom and off the campus on her own. Luckily she arrived home safely. We were never contacted by the school. In fact, WE had to call the school and let them know that they were missing a 5 year old student.Other Review7y ago - Check out schools near 937 5th Ave.

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years. The neighbors are friendly, that’s one of the reasons for it’s name. You feel safe that your kids are playing outside. There’s a school and Stanford Hospital outpatient medical facilities. Take a nice walk with your dog to Marsh Manor, your one stop shop, where you will find a grocery store, bank, Restaurants including Starbucks and more! It’s a great place to live. I love it!"
