7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe entered midyear while we are applying to private schools and I must say that this school has us reconsidering as the entire community of admin, the Principal, all teachers here are so incredible. The kids are all so welcoming of one another and the parents show kindness to one another. This is a lovely neighborhood school, not on major streets, they have a free little library in the front and the IB program is what I saw when I was growing up, living on the East Coast. This is a gem of a school under the LAUSD umbrella. I only wish the middle school in our district was as wonderful. It isn't, so this is why we're shopping private.Parent Review1y ago - Venice Senior High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVHS campus is beautiful and the new science, gym, arts building are first class. Students are diverse and seem to get along quite well. Lots of AP classes and programs for students with different interests. And the sports program is amazing…XC, basketball, tennis, football, soccer, baseball. And so many kids are getting into UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, NYU, etc. VHS is morphing into a powerhouse public school. Best kept secret on the Westside.Parent Review5mo ago - Marina Del Rey Middle School

"Traffic in LA is always terrible, but once you get off of the freeway and into the neighborhoods it’s much more manageable. It’s at it’s worst in the mornings and between 4-6pm. Parking is always a problem, but it’s just something you learn to deal with."

"Love the Playa vibe, access to the beach & bluffs, Restuarants nearby, shops & market. Close to Marina Del Rey & LAX. Good for biking & hills for jogging. Easy access to Manhattan Beach"

"I have no commute but when I did to Santa Monica it was a relatively normal Los Angeles rush hour. It would take me about 30 minutes there and back. Sometimes 45. "

"It was a great neighborhood but now it’s unsafe and dirty due to homelessness crisis Nevertheless, it’s still has a lot of cool small bars and restaurants "

"It's a beautiful area, close to the beaches as well as the city. The houses here however, are overpriced in my opinion. Renting a nice rent-controlled apartment might be much cheaper than owning a property. Other than that it's a safe area, good for singles and families. "

"Del Rey offers fantastic coffee shops, a growing number of retail shops, eateries and markets, all on Centinella between Washington Blvd and Braddock. The annual Police fair closes Culver BLVD for three days and the whole neighborhood comes out for rides, games and lots of fun! Overall, this is a quickly growing neighborhood and only a ten minute bike ride on the closeby Bollona Creek bike path to the sandy beach in Playa Del Rey. "

"car burglary, theft, homeless people. bikers and bad driver's. overall the place is livable, but when you spend millions of dollars. you expect more. a lot more "

"Great neighborhood, safe (police station close by) and well maintained. There's a wonderful walking path for runners and bikers to commute, and the Ballona Creek trail allows a beautiful nature preserve close by for walking, running or biking! "

"I have a love hate relationship with this area. I love that there are a ton of great restaurants and things to do. However, it’s dirty, plus it’s riddled with drugs and homeless issues. I sent my son out with the dog one day and a barefoot homeless woman wrapped her arms around my son. It was disturbing. I wouldn’t recommend this area if you have young children. "
