3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a new kid who attended for a semester it’s not a bad school. The school opened my shell a bit and also depending on the people you meet their welcoming especially towards us new students creating at great student atmosphere. The admin I think could be better though. The counselors are good but I feel could try to promote more on college readiness and also try to help the students more with their classes but take advanced and AP courses as their packed with students who are their for the subject and take it seriously as well take try out the ACE Program and the new ASU Junior Academy. Sports also needs to also be taken more seriously by the admin. As well the school does lack school spirit a bit but still I would highly recommend to go in involved in every school activity you can such as clubs, dances, & games. So should you send your kid there. I would recommend yes and if the student doesn’t seem to like it look into other options but this school has a pretty good atmosphere, extra curricular activities, and classes which are slowly expanding each year it just needs to improve academically with finding and replacing some teachers, leadership, admin, and students need to get more involved.Student Review3y ago - Santa Maria Middle School

There has been times that I just keep my kids home because I don't want to even see him and the principal. "I've lived here for 3 years. Other than drivers running 67th Ave is a drag strip, the area is nice and quiet. The homes are well-designed, and plenty of good schools nearby. I hope a mall and movie theater open up closer by, though. Right now, the nearest movie theater is 99th Ave and McDowell."

"There is a large park that is always kept clean with stops specifically made for people with dogs, doggy bags available. There are always people walking their pets, I even take my dog every other day & never run into any issues. People jogging, kids playing, local sports teams practicing. It is located directly behind a high school & next to some farms. No real danger found like more inner city neighborhoods."

"My neighbors have some parties, but we are not invited. We likely would not attend, so that is fine. We have lived here for almost 20 years and only had 2-3 times a party near us was fairly loud."

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood since it opened in 2001. Many families have come and gone, but there have been consistency on my street. The South Mountain 202 is going to be a great connecting freeway close to the neighborhood."

"Unique? We have an HOA that does nothing to upkeep the neighborhood but still collects HOA fees every month. (Cars constantly parked in the streets so an accident is waiting to happen since you have to squeeze through 2 rows of cars and pray someone isn't coming the other way or kids aren't about to run out from behind the cars you cant see passed. Trash is dumped all over the place from couches to beds. Neighbors have weeds waist level all around the community. So in my opinion an HOA that does absolutely nothing is pretty "unique""
