Many students who participate in the IB program get into competitive colleges. Trade programs are also here and students from all tracks are able to take classes in all tracks. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has gone to this school for 3 years. She has always done well. The school does a lot to have after school family fun nights, movie night, arts and crafts night, and before and after school activities such as guitar lessons and knitting, a family knitathon, and after school bus shuttles kids to swim lessons once a week if you enroll. In addition to that, my daughter comes home with a homework packet every week. She has hard spelling words and math that she needs my help with. I love it because she is being challenged. Parents get a letter to initial every week for missing work. Kids have incentives for reading 4 books every quarter, neon bowling ore ice skating. This school is everything I expect and more. Also, there are minorities here but I have never witnessed any racial problems. Just thought I would throw that in there because it might be important for someone. The only problem is that they almost never have snow days. The wind can be downing power lines and the lights in the school flicker but they still have school. Occasionally they have weather optional days if you choose to keep your child home it's excused. They have indoor recess when extremely cold.Parent Review12y ago - Swanson Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI like how the school is k-3rd grade, but my child seems bored most of the time. Granted it seems to be a case by case. I have swung by there a few times and it seems teachers lack control from all students in their classroom as i will stop by and there is students across the rooms talking without close supervision. I have also been contacted over issues that should have been handled by the Swanson Staff.Parent Review10y ago - Palmer Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery homophobic and transphobic. The school claims that they are supportive of LGBTQIA+ members, yet they do nothing when a child is being bullied. However the choir teacher, science teachers, and gym teachers are amazing. The children that go there are not disciplined and misbehave and are rude to teachers and classmates.Student Review1y ago - Check out schools near 2034 S Inner Springer Loop.

"We have lived in this area for 13 years. I could not think of a better place to raise children. The neighborhood is quiet and the bus stop can be seen from the front door. Neighbors take pride in thier properties. And wildlife have been known to roam through from time to time. We are still within the city limits but the feeling one gets is a laid back life style. Over all terrific place to be."
