5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI live in the Service neighborhood area, but I chose to go to West High for a reason. I am currently a 9th grader. West has the best students in Alaska by a landslide. It has the only IB program, the only Highly Gifted program, and some of the best sports teams in the state. It has so many opportunities for students to take. Through my first semester, my teachers have been great. If something is wrong, just talk to them and they are more than happy to fix it. Most of the students in the neighborhood school program aren't the best learners, or at least aren't motivated to learn. However, motivated students have options for a high level of learning. West is in the Anchorage School District, which has had some problems with funding recently, so some programs may be cut. However, I would still recommend West as the high school of choice in Anchorage. If it is too long of a drive, Service High and South High aren't bad options either.Student Review3w ago - Check out schools near 7436 Foxridge Way #4-C.

"I live at 76th and Old Seward and am buying a house on 79th. This area is great because of it's fast access to major shopping and eating establishments. It's got fast access to the trail system within a couple blocks and Taku lake is beautiful. My favorite part is that even though this neighborhood is in the center of everything with great access to Seward Highway, it's also very quiet and the neighbors are friendly. "
