Hello! My name is Lauren Werthammer, and I am the proud principal of Martha Elementary. We are excited that you took a moment to learn more about our school. Since assuming this role in July of 2023, I have fallen in love with the staff, students, and the community that comprises our Martha community. I am a parent, this is a fantastic school. Love the small environment, staff is welcoming and communicates very well.

This school is terrible. There is little to no communication between parents and staff, except when they want money from us for the countless fundraising/raffle/etc that is constantly being sponsored. THOSE papers always seem to come home. However, there are never set plans and most teaching staff (while being nice people) seem to be hamstrung by ineffectiveness either designed or otherwise. Homework is not really emphasized as something of importance, but the children certainly get zeros for it. The creativity of the students is actively stifled at an alarming pace. I'm surprised that they have not yet found a way to put all our children on drugs and just collect paychecks. Oh, wait, they are. If I could rate them negative stars I would rate them negative one bajillionteen stars. I've never been wanted at the building, if you even walk your child inside they get alarmingly hostile towards your presence unless you're buddies with the receptionist which always seems to have a crowd of closed doors around her. (Closed doors in this case being people you can't just walk through, use your noggin.) My child has had a hell of a time in Ona and she was a very good student elsewhere.
