My child is excited about going to school. That makes me happy. He likes his teacher and his friends.

I’ll keep this review as general as possible, but unfortunately, my child’s first year at this school will also be his last.My child is autistic and has an IEP, so communication and collaboration with the school are extremely important to me. Unfortunately, when I asked who his speech therapist was, neither his teacher nor the front office staff could provide me with her name. I had to reach out elsewhere to get the information myself. I also requested a phone call or meeting to discuss his IEP, services, and expectations for the school year, and I am still waiting.There have also been ongoing concerns regarding a medical condition that requires care from a specialist. I followed the school’s request and scheduled the appointment, and the school was given the appointment date. Despite that, I have continued receiving frequent calls, emails, and messages requesting updates. My child has even been sent home from school multiple times because the appointment had not yet taken place.The school also requested that medication and the required paperwork be provided. Again, I took care of what was requested. However, because there was a minor tear on the prescription, the medication could not be accepted, and once again, I had to leave work and pick my child up from school. At this point, it feels like no matter what I do to comply with the school’s requests, there is always another issue that results in my child being sent home.When I expressed my concerns to administration, I was essentially told that the school was just following policy and that there was nothing they could do. As a parent, that response was extremely disappointing.Overall, this has been an incredibly frustrating and unenjoyable experience for both my child and me. I expected communication, understanding, and teamwork when it comes to my child’s education and well-being. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience.I truly hope other families have a better experience, but based on ours, I would not recommend this school to other elementary-school parents.

My daughter transferred from MD and loves it. This school is diverse and the curriculum is age appropriate. She’s learning the concepts of math and science in Kindergarten. WV schools are trying and we just need to have patience as parents. The school lays the educational foundation but we must continue to build those skills at home.

Great school… and very well engaged with the parents. Safety… top notch. Thank you for your hard work to the entire staff at Berkeley Heights. We’ve had a great 3 years of having our trust in you.Thanks again.Parents.

Me and my parents regret ever going to this school. I came to this school in 3rd grade, and the three years I had of elementary school was decent. Once I started middle school there, it was absolute hell. The middle school teachers except for a few were horrible, and made my experience there a nightmare. I was heavily bullied, and even though I brought it to teachers, nothing was done. Then when students brought up fake accusations about me, staff set up a meeting with my parents and pretty much did a police investigation on me. I won’t name any names because I don’t want to damage any reputations, but here was a number of things that happened. In a religion class in 7th grade, I took my glasses off to wipe them with my shirt, when my religion teacher called me a narcissist out of nowhere. Me and my parents brought it up with the school, and she was let off with a simple apology. My sister (who also went to the school) had a lot of seizures at one point, and when asking the teacher to go to the nurse after a big seizure, the teacher said “I hope you feel better” and did the sign of the cross. I was shamed by my religion teacher for not being Catholic multiple times, even though I was still a Christian. I’ve been given demerits (which was the punishment system the school used, don’t know if they still use it or not) for doing the littlest things or even nothing at all. I could go on and on. I finally escaped that place and started public school, and it has been amazing. I’m no longer shamed for not being catholic, and the staff actually respects me. Parents that are thinking about sending their child to this school, save your money, and by all means, DO NOT send your child to this school.
