Maple Grove

My son has a summer birthday so he was very young when he started Kindergarten at St Mary St Michael. My husband and I struggled with whether or not to hold him back at SMSM, move him on or change schools and repeat the same the grade. After much thought and discussion of our concerns with the teachers here we made the decision to keep him at SMSM and repeat Kindergarten. The Kindergarten teacher and the First-second grade teacher arranged their classroom schedules such that he can have reading, phonics and math with the first grade and the other subjects with the Kindergarten keeping in line with our desire to hold him back yet keep him engaged and challenged in the subjects in which he excels. Where else could we do this? He is happy and enjoying school very much this year. We are so impressed with the caring concern and dedication of the teachers here; and we feel truly blessed to be a part of this community.
