I would not recommend Valley Christian to any family—especially families of color. While the school presents itself as a faith-based, academically strong institution, our experience was deeply disappointing and upsetting on many levels.First, the academic standards are surprisingly low. The curriculum often feels far below grade level, lacking the rigor and depth needed to prepare students for future success. Many classes rely on busywork rather than real learning, and students aren’t challenged to think critically or independently.But the most serious concern is the school culture—especially for students of color. Valley Christian is an overwhelmingly white school, and the treatment of non-white students is unacceptable. Teachers have consistently shown clear bias, often targeting students of color with harsh discipline for minor or even fabricated reasons. My own child was punished for simply speaking or asking questions, while white students were allowed to do the same things without consequence.Even more disturbing, some teachers have directed their frustration and anger at students of color—calling them names, singling them out in class, and speaking to them in demeaning, disrespectful ways. This isn’t just favoritism—it’s discrimination. It creates a hostile and unsafe environment where students of color are made to feel like outsiders every single day.And this isn’t just our experience. Every single student of color from my son’s previous class has since left the school. That fact alone should be a major red flag to any family considering enrollment. It says a lot when families feel they have no choice but to walk away from a school that refuses to protect or support their children.Worse still, the administration has done nothing to address these serious issues. When concerns are raised, they are ignored, dismissed, or minimized. There’s no accountability, and no real effort to create a safe, respectful environment for all students—regardless of background.Valley Christian talks about values, but those values seem to only apply to certain students. Until this school takes real responsibility for the way it treats students of color, I cannot and will not recommend it to any parent who cares about their child’s education, safety, or dignity.
