We have been a part of APM for four years, and feel like we found a 'home away from home' for our children. The community feeling at APM is awesome. The teachers each have a paraprofessional with them all morning, so the students have the support they need during the three hours of work time. If you observe any classroom during worktime, you will witness an amazing atmosphere of peace and productiveness. In our experience, the teachers communicate with us on a regular basis and we work together to ensure the success of our children. The principal is also very approachable and supportive. One of our children is extremely self-motivated, and the other is not. Both are thriving and developing new life skills because of their experience. APM focuses on the whole child - not only superior academics, but also valuing the intrinsic virtues in all the children and guiding them toward being positive, productive members of society. I can't imagine our children attending any other school - we are grateful that AASD is so supportive of charter schools like APM. Next year APM will offer a Children's House, starting with children who are 3-years old.

One more thing, parents that were not only the parents of the bullies, but in some cases participated in it also didn't want to address it and ignored repeated attempts to rectify the problem. Friendships for several years could just be abruptly severed and no one even cared. Believe me...we tried many ways to solve this, but you can bring a horse to water and you can't make it drink. So sad and so the opposite of what is preached.
