Honestly, Blakely is amazing and people love this south end grade school. There is a strong feeling of community and caring that occurs here. Both my children went through Blakely, both very different learners, and the teachers, staff, and administration were amazing and thoughtful. Most people feel this way about the school. Kids are allowed to be kids, get messy and dirty, and be themselves. Parents are welcomed and treated like assets to the education system.

Our child attended kinder at this school and had a truly lovely experience. The school is warm and welcoming. It is not a pressure cooker and we never saw any bullying on campus. The campus is safe and lovely. If we hadn't needed to move away, our child would still attend this school. Can't express how helpful they were for our family!! Highly recommend!

This school is one of a kind! My children have all adored their experiences at Madrona, both in the early childhood and grade school programs. They emerged more confident, curious, and kind, due in no small part to the strong bonds with their outstanding teachers. The Waldorf approach has worked for them, and transformed academic learning from a daily grind into a engaged and proactive intellectual journey. They have loved the school’s outdoor time, nature, and art, as well as opportunities for deep friendship and connection in a small-group setting.

Please, if your child has any special needs, do NOT move to this district! Services are unhelpful and usually not provided at all. Our child started in grade school special ed and only lasted one year before her self esteem was destroyed by poor teachers and bullying. It has taken years to get her back on track. Unless you are white, wealthy and have NO special needs, you will find this district cruel and unpleasant.
