My children attended Hayfield Elementary from K-6. A lot of the same teachers are still there working. The staff is caring and go above and beyond to help out students and parents. I would recommend Hayfield to anyone.

My son attended this school for a month and was in one of the enhanced autism classrooms. They didn’t even have a teacher available for the first day so we got stuck with an older retired substitute teacher who had never taught children that young. Needless to say they were unprepared. I pulled my son from this school a month into the school year because he came out to me with fingernail scratches on his arm to which the teacher nor the two aides could tell me what happened. I never got the opportunity to speak to the teachers and they didn’t respond to any emails. The staff was not empathetic and tried to protect the teacher and the aides. He is nonverbal and unable to tell me what happened and they completely took advantage of that! We sadly moved to Fairfax county for the supposedly “great schools” but I experience none of this greatness. I would not recommend if your child is special needs at all.

The office staff at this school is abysmal. They do not check id cards unless they feel like it. They often respond to requests with, "1 minute" or "we don't do that". They bark at parents when they have questions or concerns.I just sat in the office for 15 minutes waiting for my child and they only randomly asked people at the door for an id check. This is after I once had 1 of the office workers assure me they "check them every time". They are just terrible.

This is our third year at Island Creek and the new principal has led the staff with great changes. There has been a renewed focus on social emotional skills for all students and teaching has become more student-centered. Communication from the new principal and the teachers has become more frequent, clear, and transparent, and is very responsive. My children love their teachers and learning and music class is their favorite. The teachers and administrators care about the children. The class sizes for the older grades are large but that is a district issue.

This is a great school filled with Christian values, teachers that genuinely love the children and an administration filled with wisdom coupled with a freshness of approach tailored to each child.

I am sending my children to Angelus Academy, and have since my oldest started in Kindergarten (now in 7th grade). We specifically choose this school because it doesn't use computers in the classroom, enabling a traditional education. The children are all a pleasure to be around, I truly enjoy when I'm able to chaperone on field trips. My children also ENJOY their classes and learning. They truly like their teachers and want to attend school. I am so thankful that we found Angelus Academy.
