This is the worst school and no one should send their kids here unless u would like your kid to get bullied by the school staff and or other kids they do not care about your kids wellbeing talk to your kids with disrespect never in a million years would I think a school would be this bad

My son attended in the GT academy of QVMS in the 6th grade. It’s the only school I’ve had to withdraw either of my children from. From sitting in on two virtual classes, English and Spanish, I witnessed two teachers showing favorites and ignoring the remaining children. Granted it occurred in the height of the Covid pandemic. But I believe the teachers should have been more, not less, understanding and supportive. When I reported the incident to the Principal, she essentially swept it under the rug and I ended up reporting it to the School Board, who said they couldn’t act after I had already transferred my child to another school system.

The principal, Macklin is former military and runs this school like a boot camp. No care, compassion, or patience with the students. I had students with learning disabilities and she would call them into her office and yell at them. They would return to my classroom in tears. She kept a male teacher employed for years, knowing he regularly yelled at the students so loud it could be heard all over the school. This teacher would also slam his classroom door and throw things in the classroom in front of students. After a school program in the cafeteria where the students performed for their parents, the principal waited until all the parents left to yell at the students because the program wasn’t perfect. So sad! This was a horrible place to work, and I would never let my kids attend this school.

Teachers and staff are awesome and supportive.

This school is not good for SPED kids, if your kid has any kind of learning difficulties I don’t recommend Schiff as they will go out their way to get your kid into a self contained environment, not very inclusive for SPED kids. Has a higher focus and concern for gifted.

I am so thankful that Southminster was recommended to us multiple times by local parents. My child attended the Bridge program there and the rate that he learned was astonishing and he was absolutely prepared for Kindergarten. The staff is like family and the most welcoming people I have come across. Our child was well loved and well taken care of. The classroom sizes are smaller and the teachers have tenure. This was something that was important to us! On a side note, I had a very close family member pass away unexpectedly and I confided in my childs teacher on how to share the news with my child while incorporating faith. They even went as far as gifting him a book about heaven to help connect the dots, which I will forever be thankful for. Make this your #1 choice, they really are the best!
