Lantern Lane Elementary School

My son attended in the GT academy of QVMS in the 6th grade. It’s the only school I’ve had to withdraw either of my children from. From sitting in on two virtual classes, English and Spanish, I witnessed two teachers showing favorites and ignoring the remaining children. Granted it occurred in the height of the Covid pandemic. But I believe the teachers should have been more, not less, understanding and supportive. When I reported the incident to the Principal, she essentially swept it under the rug and I ended up reporting it to the School Board, who said they couldn’t act after I had already transferred my child to another school system.

This is an excellent school. With a very caring hands-on principal, this school has a team of good faculty who invest above average focus on the students. There were times when I was not happy about a classroom issue and addressed it with the principals. They were prompt and incredibly caring before providing resolution. Are there teachers there that are below average? Honestly, a very few as with any place. But they are surrounded by great teachers who are effective getting students to grasp their lesson. If a teacher couldn't deliver the results a child needed, the principal allowed options to meet the parent and child on common ground based on needs assessed. All of my children did well at Palmer over the years. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced us to make the decision to home school. So, the last child was unenrolled. And the administration handled the unenrollment process with great empathy and understanding that many of my online fellow homeschool parents did not experience unenrolling theirs at other schools in other cities/states. Hearing others' experience in other places during this difficult time makes me realize how Palmer has been that diamond in the rough that we were blessed to experience for all our children.

We have had a wonderful experience with New Millennium. We really enjoy working on the projects with our grandson and it gives us an opportunity to also learn things we may not have known. If you are looking for a school that will prepare your child for the next phase of their education as well as provide a friendly and fun school experience I highly recommend New Millennium. If you want a school that will require the parents to be engaged with the student this school offers that. We are very impressed with this school.
