"Lots of dog walkers and nice dogs abound in this bucolic little neighborhood east of Dallas . Houses are very charming harkening back to the 1930-1950’s when many of the houses were built."

"Unique houses, not cookie cutter burbs. Close to downtown. $10-$15 Uber to deep Ellum or Dow town, easier and cheaper than parking. Easy access to arts, music, everything"

"No highways to downtown, through neighborhood and school zones. Very easy and convenient, but might not be for those needing to get on 75"

"Lakewood boasts the historic Lakewood Theater, which shows classic films and hosts many contemporary musical and comedy events, and the popular Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens . Surrounding the Lakewood Theater is an entire neighborhood of trendy restaurants, shopping venues, such as Green Living Dallas' first eco-friendly independent store, and historical landmarks such as the Dixie House Cafe. One of the year's highlights is the massive Lakewood Fourth of July Parade and Celebration. Each fall, the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for Lakewood Elementary with its Fall Home Festival and Tour. Lakewood is also home to Lakewood Country Club. Built in 1912, Lakewood Country Club’s three-story clubhouse overlooked a woodland that rolled and tumbled pleasantly over this fast growing East Dallas neighborhood. The Club’s founding fathers knew that the land at the corner of Gaston and Abrams would be a perfect spot for Dallas’ second 18-hole golf course. Private Schools: Lakehill Preparatory School is a fully accredited college preparatory school in the Lakewood neighborhood of east Dallas, Texas (U.S.). The school is accredited through a number of bodies including the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission, which works through the State Commissioner of Education.[1] The school was founded in 1971.[2] The main campus is located on Hillside Drive in the heart of Lakewood. The campus sits on 6 acres (24,000 m2) and houses classrooms, a gymnasium, an auditorium, two libraries, multiple science and computer labs, and the Charles J. Wyly, Jr. Auditorium. The 17-acre (69,000 m2) Roger L. Perry Campus is located just four miles (6 km) from the Main Campus. Built in 2001, this campus is home to the Warrior Athletic Complex and the Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center. The Warrior Athletic Complex offers a football stadium, baseball field, softball field, four tennis courts, and a field house."

"I have lived in Lakewood for 20 years and raised a family here. The schools are excellent - both of my children are on full-ride scholarships. The friendly and civically active neighborhood has an ecclectic small town feel. Friendships are made easily. Generations of families reside here, but are quick to welcome new neighbors into the fold. I cannot think of a better community to live in and be a part of. "

"Great schools, Whole Foods, White Rock Lake... what more could you ask for! I loved living in the Oaks of Lakewood.. perfect for single people, married couples and families. I had to move for work, but I wish I still lived there! "

"I've lived in Lakewood for 27 years. You can't beat this place for its combination of wonderful, diverse neighbors, green spaces, including White Rock Lake and bike / hike trail system, proximity to good schools and great local coffee shops and restaurants. "Lakewood is my Colorado" has been my motto for years."

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are MUCH BETTER schools to consider than enrolling your child in Lakewood. The principal does not communicate imperative information to the parents, misleads you with inaccurate information, and accepts ZERO accountability, the front office staff members are rude and lose paperwork, and it’s a very clique based community from the school involvement to the neighborhood, sadly!Parent Review1y ago21 Reviews - Lakehill Preparatory
