After 10 years at Austin International School (AIS), it is heartbreaking to warn prospective parents that the school’s core values have fundamentally shifted. While the teaching staff is wonderful and dedicated, the administration that took over in 2024 has replaced a nurturing international community with a punitive, corporate bureaucracy.Behind closed doors, AIS’s marketed "inclusivity" is an illusion. We witnessed an environment where children are singled out and targeted for exclusion rather than supported. When our children needed guidance, the administration blamed us, dismissed our concerns, and withheld counselor support until we demanded it. Most egregiously, the Head of School and Principal forced our first-grader to sign a corporate-style "behavioral contract" in their presence—a heavy-handed, intimidating stunt that teachers explicitly warned was non-pedagogical.Furthermore, the school's international heart is gone. The current Head of School is monolingual in English, lacks European pedagogical context, and is actively diluting the core French curriculum in favor of standardized IB programs. They are simply trading on a French accreditation earned by previous leadership and relying on the international nature of the student body.Our three children have since transitioned to public school (AISD), where they are thriving in Magnet and Gifted & Talented programs. This proved that the issue was never their capability or their teachers' dedication, but an exclusionary system where children cannot express their nature. Research carefully before trusting your child's emotional safety to this administration.

With two kiddos in this school, I feel so confident saying this school is doing so much right. The teachers are quality, caring and dedicated. The administrators are always will to listen, grow and hear from families and teachers. It’s a wonderful community to be a part of!

A school that focuses more on politics and its own image more than it does the staff or its students. If you want a christian education, that is, a GOOD christian education, then this is not the place to go. I entered this school a dedicated christian and left an atheist due to the extreme ideologies some of the staff members and students had. I felt unloved and excluded from everything. There are few teachers there who really did care about what they taught and their students, but are quickly fired or leave due to the hateful environment this school provides. With little to no diversity, you're getting an extremely biased education and social life.
