7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFairmont Elementary is an excellent school! The teachers and staff go above and beyond to insure the wellbeing of all students. The principal is a wonderful leader, and the kids adore her. All Jonson City Schools are great, but Fairmont is the BEST!Other Review5y ago7 Reviews - North Side Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI do not recommend this school. Student demographics pull from a very economically disadvantage/transient area. I question if Great Schools has up to date information. Teachers have to manage very chaotic behaviors at this school. My 1st grade child had students call the teacher curse words, had to endure foul mouthed language sometimes directed at her. A child routinely soiled himself at school. Front desk did not care about parental concern. It was so glad we moved to another district. Parents use your gut when you see a pawn shop, discount grocer and check cashing business nearby --- I wish I had.Parent Review2y ago7 Reviews - South Side Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor such a small run down school, many of the staff here surprisingly have their noses so high up I thought I mistakenly enrolled my kids into an Ivy League school of some sort! They don't address bullying, and in some of their words and actions there are hints of racism. Not all of course, there are many great staff there. But I'm not gonna name names, the ones I'm describing knows who they are. Parents don't have a voice here unless you're part of their circle. If you're from out of town or look different from them, I would stay away from this school. Have talked to many other locals in the area that moved here from out of state, and every other elementary school in the area doesn't have the same reputation.Parent Review5mo ago15 Reviews - Ashley Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would not recommend this school to anybody, especially when there are better private school options and better public school options in the area. There are a few really wonderful teachers that care a lot about their students, but all the cons outweigh the pros of those specific teachers. The classes are so small that they combine grades and don’t really have a great curriculum for distinguishing course materials across various grades. The “high school” is maybe one or two students, so you are better off buying a homeschooling online curriculum + tutors/community activities if you don’t want your child in the local public schools. It seems like there are two main types of students, those that parents put them in this school because they believed they’d get more out of a private education than public. Generally most of those kids were fine, and if it had been all children like that it wouldn’t have been as much of an issue. Then there were those students that had been kicked out of other schooling options due to problematic behavior and then brought that behavior and harmful attitudes to the cohorts of children. The school didn’t seem to be able to say no to these students because they were desperate for enrollment, at the detriment of the students without behavioral issues. The class sizes were so small students had no opportunity to avoid bullies or people that were harassing others, and because the school doesn’t adequately deal with them they are just stuck in a pretty bad environment during crucial formative years. There were many instances where the female students were held accountable and “gotten onto” when the male students were acting inappropriately, setting a harmful double standard of expectations for girls and boys. There was very much more grace given to boys and behavior that was overlooked when it absolutely shouldn’t have been, and it took far to long for administration to take reasonable action when male students were acting inappropriately.I think this school could be great if they had stricter enrollment criteria and more fair, less gender-biased expectations across the students.Parent Review3w ago52 Reviews - Solid Rock Academy
