Hayward Addition

I was reminiscing over my past recently, and I was remembering this school. I used to attend before I moved away, but this school really affected me me mentally. An event occurred here that I was blamed for and punished for before I could even properly protect myself. An inappropriate action occurred and my teacher had told me that I was responsible for it and wanted to know why I had “done it” she framed it in such a way that made it seem like it was really terrible. I wanted to protect my classmate who had caused the incident, so I said that I had done the deed and apologized. I was punished very harshly for something I didn't even understand. There was no checking cameras to confirm, just the words of a 6 year old. I feel that this school violated my autonomy at a young age and caused me long term distress when I think of the events. Attempt to not to take your children to attend this school. It may seem silly as I type this, but I really seek to halt this behavior from ever occurring from the school again.

Our two kids have had great experiences at Discovery. The teachers, counselor, and administrators are all top notch in my opinion. For the largest elementary school in South Dakota, it is impressive how well they run the school. Not sure why another reviewer thinks that the principal is nasty. That's their experience and opinion but now mine.

I love this school! My oldest daughter has high functioning Autism and is doing awesome here! Very inclusive and the staff is very supportive. My nero-typical child is doing awesome too!.
