Great experience with my child at this school while on an IEP. Staff was dedicated to finding resources to invest academic success. I really like the fact that the staff is flexible. Highly recommended.

If you’re looking for a school where your child will constantly be distracted by other students with behavioral issues and are spending more time throughout the day stopping to deal with the outbursts then are learning this is your place! It’s actually extremely sad. There are a lot of teachers that I’m sure actually care about the children but this school is a disaster. Charleston County School districts progressive disciplinary plan is a joke. Children kick other children and get away with ridiculous behavior and nothing is done. At what point do behavioral children ( with an IEP or not ) hinder the learning of every other child. This entire district is a joke and they need to start being held accountable.Military families beware. If you have the option to send elsewhere I would highly recommend it.

The school needs smart,strong leadership vision ,responsible every detail of work person, not only who thinks own families and pockets

This school may have good testing scores, and some of the staff likely are not the same as the others, which is what seems to be organically bitter and nasty.Most of my interactions from day one have been awkward and cold. I thought that I was singled out, until I had seen at least one other Mom treated, what seemed to be cold and rude by office staff.If we return here, it will be under the grounds of pure praying and hope that things will be different next year, and to not switch schools. Honestly though, I have had to talk my child into going to school this year more than I ever have because she doesn’t feel challenged or welcomed there for the most part.

My son has been at MCS since he was 3 years old and is now an 8th grader. I am a CCSD teacher and researched schools extensively before initially placing my son at a local private Montessori school. At 3 years old he won a lottery spot and I jumped at leaving the private school for a public Montessori school. Every single day my son has been at MCS has been a positive one. He absolutely loves school. He feels accepted, cared for and is academically challenged. This school is like a family. The teachers are Montessori and SC DOE certified. My son is held to high academic and behavioral expectations. We made the best decision leaving private Montessori and moving to MCS. If you can get in, do it.
