Read what parents are saying about W. B. Goodwin Elementary SchoolGreat experience with my child at this school while on an IEP. Staff was dedicated to finding resources to invest academic success. I really like the fact that the staff is flexible. Highly recommended.
Posted by a parent on 7/7/2022I really hate this school three of my kids attended here. As of now only two attend currently. Goodwin is literally a mess ok. As soon as your kid make one mistake here The whole school staff labels your kid. They think all black kids needs to be on medicine. To be honest I would never recommend this school at all!
Posted by a parent on 5/29/2021We have recently moved to the Charleston area and this was not a pick of schools for my child but he had to go there.. I can't really put the school down but I don't like it for my child..met with teacher to discuss child behavior bc I know he talks a lot and I don't send him to school for that but I didn't like one question teacher asked, is he on medicine? Do they think all black children need to be on medicine..he is a typical child..It don't matter me having to transport him to school but I will be doing a transfer next year to a more diversed school.
Posted by a parent on 2/12/2015W.B. Goodwin is a title 1 school. The good part about this designation is that the school is eligible for all kinds of interventions. Free reading and math tutoring are available. There are also a number of paraprofessionals on staff. There is a sizable Spanish speaking community in the area and ESL services are available. The school is very well administered. The principal is visible on a daily basis and is often seen in the halls. The staff is cohesive with a common vision. The students are well-behaved, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. I would be well satisfied if my children attended this school. Thank you.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTrying to get my kids in this school has been a head ache. Not only because of my husband transfer but because of the admin by the name of Teresa. She is very rude. She told me that they were not accepting but i fpund out they were. And sinxe i went over her head she has been giving me her nasty energy ever since. My kids have attended Hunley Park for a little less than 2 months and my daughter has been in a fight and been ganged at the school. And her teacher did not call me to inform me about either incidents. I went to the school to talk to the principle and Teresa says they are busy and I could have a seat because it will be a while and another parent is waiting for him as well. She said she will let him know about me as well. So went to go sit down and the principal finally comes in and said hello to the other parent and proceeded to walk with the parent in a conference room. I sat and waited for Teresa to let him know there was another parent but she didnt. He finished up with the other parent and she still didn't get up to tell him anything. She just sat at the desk and played busy. If you are not able to multi task then your in the wrong profession. I spoke with the principal or assistant principal and he was good addressing my concerns. But having rude administration and teachers who think it is not important to call about an incident is not okay.Parent Review7y ago - Lambs Elementary School

The teachers have students best interests in mind and have excellent communication. My students were challenged and had a positive experience!Parent Review1mo ago - Springfield Elementary School

The teachers were amazing at what they did and I couldn't have asked for a better education. Thank you Garrett Academy for teaching me everything I need to know to survive life.Student Review5y ago - Drayton Hall Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had a series of terrible experiences with negligent faculty at the school. The final situation included our child running nearly a 103 fever, completely lethargic and needing to contact us to go home, and MULTIPLE staff members denying him his right to contact us, HIS PARENTS, to go home. Instead they dismissed him and his brother's requests and made him finish the remaining 5+ hours of school, just for us to find out about it when picking them up from school. When confronting Vice Principal Anderson about it, just a serious of LIES & EXCUSES, No Ownership was taken. We Immediately removed our children from his school as our children did not feel safe!Parent Review1mo ago - Charleston Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has learned so much about the Montessori way of life through the caring teachers and administration staff at MDS. Our son is happy and he is absolutely thriving. We feel that he is well cared for. Every staff member knows every student and the parent community is growing together. We are supremely happy with our investment in MDS and in our family.Parent Review7y ago - Montessori Community School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been at MCS since he was 3 years old and is now an 8th grader. I am a CCSD teacher and researched schools extensively before initially placing my son at a local private Montessori school. At 3 years old he won a lottery spot and I jumped at leaving the private school for a public Montessori school. Every single day my son has been at MCS has been a positive one. He absolutely loves school. He feels accepted, cared for and is academically challenged. This school is like a family. The teachers are Montessori and SC DOE certified. My son is held to high academic and behavioral expectations. We made the best decision leaving private Montessori and moving to MCS. If you can get in, do it.Parent Review6y ago
