i went their for five years and it taught me how privledged everyone was

I was a student at ECMCS for 9 years and I felt extremely seen and loved every single one of those years. I joined ECMCS at 5 years old and I just graduated and am now in 9th grade at Academic Magnet along with 3 of my peers. My kindergarten teacher, Ms. Kendra, is still there after all 9 years and would regularly greet me in the halls! The school is great when it comes to the needs of students and making learning fun at all ages. ECMCS greatly prepared me for high school education by teaching me skills like planning my work and how to ask for support when needed and how to be confident in my education and social circles. ECMCS is the kind of environment where I would regularly see previous students before me come to visit the teachers that taught them and the teachers would remember and catch up with previous students which really does show how strong the sense of community is there. When I left, i'm proud to say that all of my teacher's told me I had to visit and that they would miss my presence very much. I am now in AP Human Geo in 9th grade along with Algerbra 1H, ELA 1H, Biology 1H, and Spanish 2. ECMCS was a HUGE part of my identity growing up and it still shapes me into the person I am today and I will be forever grateful for the 9 years I spent there. I know that almost all reviews on this website are from the parents of students so I thought it might help people who are thinking about enrolling at ECMCS to hear from a graduate that got into one of the best high schools in SC. As one last final note, I would also like to say that when I reached out to 3 of my previous teachers (after graduating), asking to write letters of recommendation for a volunteer program, all 3 responded with the form filled out with outstanding comments about me and how fit I would be for the role. All in all ECMCS is the perfect school for your child and I'm extremely happy I went there for my K-8 education.

I was a former student at this school, I only went there for fifth grade because I had just moved to Mount Pleasant. I came from another school that really valued education and you own personal needs. When I got to JBE the math work in particular was stuff I had already learned and understood from fourth grade. I was never challenged in the classes that I took and sometimes I was even asked to teach it to other students there. On my MAP testing that year I scored lower than what I got on fourth grade. I also have a younger sister who goes to the school and she isn’t understanding things that she should already know at her age. I know people are different and some people excel in different things but even my parents believe that there isn’t enough not only learning but understanding of knowledge at this school. JBE isn’t all a bad school because they teach people leadership skills and have lots of school spirt but their teaching skills, methods, and curriculum just aren’t good enough for kids that age. I would not recommend if you want your child or children to flourish academically.

I attended this school from kindergarten through 5th grade and had a terrible experience. As a Latina student, I faced bullying from other students about my appearance, and the environment felt very exclusionary. Instead of keeping the focus on faith and academics, teachers brought their political opinions into the classroom. Even the priest used his platform to talk about politics, which made me feel targeted, degraded, and completely unwelcome. Because of the behavior of the staff and the priest at COKSM, I ended up feeling less connected to God and stopped wanting to go to church entirely. I still believe in God, but this school made me dislike church because they did not practice what they preached. Leaving this school was the best decision, and I felt so much better, happier, and more relieved the moment I left. I do not recommend this school.

I would highly recommend this school to any family. They truly care about their students and the family. We've had nothing but a wonderful experience at CCPS.

The administration at this school promotes relational aggression among it's teachers and staff. It's environment is deeply entrenched in covert bullying, emotional manipulation and social sabotage. Families are lovely and there have been some gifted educators who have worked briefly at the school, but they always leave as a result of these experiences. One example would be the school administration's openness to children with special needs, but having zero support for these students in the classroom. Only families who have the financial means to privately for outside resources get support. Children with special needs require adequate support while at school, so that all children present in the classroom can have the education they need and deserve. This administration purports to include children who have special needs, but teachers (who are not trained in Special Education) are made to gather a smattering of materials for their students and freestyle their way through the day. The results are a chaotic environment for all who are in the classroom, teachers and students alike. Yet when the teachers reach out to the school administration for support, their credibility is undermined with inconsistent communication and shifting accountability.
