"There are Not enough sidewalks on many of the streets. Traffic on Forest Drive is bad many times. Love the new park on Gills Creek and all the dining options. "

" Lack of side walks in the neighborhood. Sometimes makes walking at night a little dicey. That’s all"

"I typically drive a car to my employer downtown, which is about 4-5 miles from my house. Close enough to bike, when the weathers nice. Public transit is spotty in this area. "

"The area is very well populated. Very kid friendly and great neighbors. Most of the big chain stores have good customer service and the stores are mostly kept clean and organized. I would avoid the Walmart if at all possible. "

"Forest Acres is one of the most sought after communities in Columbia. It has great schools, great dining, shopping, it’s own Police Force and City Hall. The neighborhoods have large private lots, and the property values are among the highest of any community in the entire city of Columbia. Forest Acres has a true “neighborhood” feel, and is a great place for families, seniors, and young professionals to live. It’s centrally and conveniently located, but still has a community feel."

"We live in one of the most convenient and sought after communities in all of Columbia. This area- (and specifically the street) has the privacy and seclusion of a neighborhood community, and the convenient accessibility to nearby shopping, dining and entertainment. We are 10 minutes away from three major interstates, as well as a 10 minute drive from downtown Columbia. Public transportation utilizes numerous nearby pickup/ drop points in the area."

"Beautiful wooded neighborhood in town and close to parks and a highly rated public school system. Within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. On the public transportation route and close to top rated hospitals. Within minutes of three major rivers, a nationally acclaimed zoo, kids museum, state museum, art museum and state and national nature preserves. Halfway between the mountains and the coast and home to five major colleges and universities. Twenty three live theaters, a convention center, great sports venue. "

"This area is tucked away behind a busy street (Forest Drive) so you get the quiet streets while still being in town. There is shopping, grocery, restaurants, and bars all within walking distance. You are also within 15-20 min depending on traffic from major interstates, I-20, I-26, and I-77. 10 minutes away from downtown too! "

"I have lived in this area since Feb 2013 and I am now planning on building a home in the Eagle Park sub division. The surrounding area is nice and close to everything. There are more stores, gas stations etc close to this area than Trulia lists. Everything is convienent even a movie theatre about 1 10th of a mile away. Quiet and family friendly not to mention close to FT. Jackson."

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBrockman Elementary is an amazing school. I have two boys and the eldest began as a 4k in 2008. The Montessori philosophy is an amazing way to teach children how to be responsible. There is a framework in place and the children choose their own work within that structure. This creates respectful, self motivated citizens. The teachers are very well qualified. All of them have undergraduate degrees in education and their Montessori certification. Many of them have Master's degrees and National board certification. In my work with the PTO, I have had an opportunity to interact with all of them. I agree with the principal that there are no bad teachers in this school. A previous review stated that this school was not suitable for boys or for children who are not organized. I have a boy with adhd. He is the epitome of disorganized. His lower elementary teacher (1st-3rd grade) worked very closely with us and the school intervention team to make sure he was getting the guidance, structure, and accommodations he needed to be successful. He is now in the 4th grade and doing very well. As you can tell, we love this school!Parent Review12y ago7 Reviews - Forest Lake Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe can’t speak highly enough about this school. Our daughter has been there since the spring and has been absolutely thriving. You can really tell how much the teachers and staff care about each individual child. I really love how involved the keep us parents and always give updates throughout the day.Parent Review2y ago23 Reviews - The Timmerman School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would not recommend Timmerman based on my experience. Communication with parents is poor, and the school does not feel transparent. The classroom approach seems to rely heavily on worksheets, and I had concerns about whether the instruction was challenging enough. When trying to communicate with teachers, they often seemed withdrawn, frustrated, or unwilling to engage. It did not feel like a nurturing environment. I also found the principal’s communication style to be very authoritative toward both children and parents. In my experience, concerns were interrupted or dismissed, and the school did not seem current with more modern teaching practices. The administrative staff can also come across as rude and unprofessional toward parents. I had concerns about certain children being singled out and favoritism within the school. The school is not clear about teacher qualifications or student test results, and I have heard similar concerns from other parents whose children felt underprepared or behind after transferring to another school.Overall, I did not feel confident that the school was preparing students well or treating families with the respect, fairness, and communication they deserve.Other Review5mo ago16 Reviews
