"Harrisburg is a friendly place. As long as you know where you are and are aware. Everyone typically looks out for each other "

"Public transportation is very limited but it’s fairly easy to get to downtown Harrisburg. There are shops within walking distance but they don’t offer much in the way of food"

"I’m 24 years old and grew up in Linglestown area, but I’ve passed by and through the Progress area countless times; I wasn’t sure how residing in this area would pan out, but my apartment was everything I needed, so I tried it out. This was my first time completely living on my own - so it was already an adjustment in itself - but I really grew to love and feel comfortable living in this area. I’ve been living here for over a year now, in a second-story apartment. I still get a little freaked out, but it’s helped living on the second floor, and I put extra security measures in place to ease my anxiety. 🙂 About four months ago, I adopted a dog; I felt comfortable walking her in the early fall mornings, when it was pitch black out - I just made sure we were wearing reflective gear and had a flashlight. I’m actually moving in less than a month, but that’s only because my apartment ended up not being as ideal for a dog owner like myself. We’re actually moving in with my boyfriend, who actually lives in progress area, too, but in a house; him and I agreed that we like this area, but the schooling options wouldn’t be ideal if we were to eventually have children. Hope that helps!"

"My kids have friends in the neighborhood and since it’s not busy throughout the neighborhood they are able to play all around the neighborhood and I not have to worry. When I first moved here the neighborhood was so welcoming and we made ton of friends in an instance."

"I’ve lived here for 7 years and what makes my neighborhood unique is the shelter. We’ve had people just walking up on our porch like its theirs and people sitting on our property because they got kicked out of the shelter. We also have kids and adults teasing our dogs through our fence."

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a self-proclaimed academically rigorous school first and a Christian school second, and it shows. There is no joy here. The students' physical safety is not a priority nor is mental and emotional well being when it comes to bullying. The head of school is the root of many of the problems. God sees what they do to those children and it will not go unpunished.Other Review2y ago8 Reviews - Harrisburg Adventist School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat a waste of valuable, precious time. I enrolled my daughter for pre-k because I wanted her to have a head start before entering Kindergarten. I was wrong, sorely mistaken and misled. My poor baby learned absolutely nothing, nothing at all. And what I what I was teaching her at home/and what she learned at a previous center before being enrolled here (yes, my daughter was already learning before pre-k) she began to forget and doubt herself. I was expecting this facility to be a small close knit institution of learning that would teach the kids. My daughter learned absolutely nothing. It was like her brain was melting while attending and she did not like the school at all. She always cried every morning before drop off. She didn’t want to be there. She was sad withdrawn and did not blossom at all. When the year was over it felt like it was too long of a year and no progress was made in my daughter’s education. She reverted in everything that she had known, was having trouble writing her name or telling me letter sounds which she knew before starting at this pre-k program. She never came home singing nursery rhymes, she never counted or engaged in any learning that you would expect from a child in a full day pre-k. I was so angry, sad, regretful and disappointed once the year was finally over. My daughter began to say she hated school. And I could not believe a faith based school could do so much damage. This was supposed to kick start her love of learning and give her the edge she needed to excel in Kindergarten but my poor child was sad, drained and exhausted from this place. Not to me too. The early Fridays which were never disclosed to me when enrolling and the many closings throughout the year. I had to take so much paid and unpaid time from work and had no vacation time left after dealing with the constant and repeated closures. This school is not free and goes on the long list of under performing and failing schools in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. This state does not take learning seriously and there are many school open and ready to take your tuition and spoil your children’s potential. As a parent I give this school zero stars. Totally Incompetent teachers from what I have experienced, sub par laissez faire adults parading around as educators. There is a serious problem of unlearning in the schools in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This is both in public and private schools. Just packed with schools that produce poorly trained/educated students.Parent Review6mo ago9 Reviews
