"There’s a nice large all-ages park nearby. But I hear police cars all the time and people drive so fast along the large stretch of road"

"My neighborhood is an active gang area, shootings occur randomly when I smoke ganja on my porch at night. It's not all the time it happens, but I'd avoid raising kids in this neighborhood. It's safe during the day, night fall comes... I'd recommend you stay in doors. Past that, it's quite quite here. "

"Dogs are left out all night long, barking incessantly and the cops don’t respond. Non dog-owners hate it, I can tell you that."

"My neighborhood has great neighbors that look out for each other and their homes. it is close to I-5 and 99E. Fairly close to downtown shopping and really close to Keizer Station."

"This is NOT a safe neighborhood. Crimes are committed here daily, and nightly. The police are overstretched and cannot protect citizens or prosecute criminals here. The criminals know this so they are very brazen and do things you would would think no one would ever do, with impunity. Stay with your kids at all times. Take whatever precautions you need to safeguard your property, cars, plants, or anything else of value. Do not leave anything out at night. Prepare for self-defense. As soon as I can, I’m getting my family as far away from here as possible. I wish someone would have told me that before we moved in."

"this neighborhood is relativity quiet. There is some load muffler noise and some booming music but all in all the neighborhood is peaceful. I enjoy my little pocket of the neighborhood and appreciate my neighbors."

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth my children have/still are attending Yoshikai. They both have been at Yoshikai their entire academic career. My son is a TAG student, while my daughter is not. She doesn't grasp it as easily. That being said, both my children have received the same academic nurturing and learning. The principal is an amazing woman, compassionate and understanding. Any of the teachers I have had contact with are dedicated to their students and helping each and every one achieve. They are diligent with a zero tolerance policy for bullying. The community around the school is a nice, quiet neighborhood. A good portion of the neighbors have lived in their homes for 15-20 years. Although the school received a low score, I know it to be a fact that the teachers are amazing and they DO try to help every kid they come in contact with achieve success.Parent Review5y ago2 Reviews - Hammond Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at Halmen Elementary was extremely negative and left a lasting impact on me. The teachers were often rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. I especially remember hating school during 3rd through 5th grade because of how I was treated. Instead of being encouraged, I was frequently put down in front of the class, which made me shut down and lose confidence in learning altogether. At the time, I believed I was the problem. Looking back now, I realize that I wasn’t the lack of support, encouragement, and professionalism from the staff significantly affected my educational experience and emotional well being. School should be a place where children feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn, and that was not the environment I experienced here. I would never consider enrolling my child at this school. No child should feel discouraged or belittled by the very people meant to guide and support them.Other Review3mo ago3 Reviews
