"There’s a lot of homeless but not much crime. It’s affordable and safe. The parks are nice, and it’s got decent schools. I would definitely buy a house in this area at some point. There’s some trashy elements in the apartment complexes but it’s pretty full of community feeling and people look out for one another here too. "

"There is a very active & big railway station to the west of NW Expressway that kids should stay away from. If your a light sleeper the trains make a fair amount of noise even in the evening. "

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI teach at Howard Elementary and have taught there for almost 10 years now. We are a small school with two teachers at each grade level. Every teacher in the school is very highly qualified and extremely passionate about their job and meeting the needs of all students in their classroom. We provide many opportunities for students to receive support in reading, math and writing. We also have infused technology into every classroom. Each student at Howard has their own MacBook, while classrooms are equipped with SmartBoards, projectors, digital cameras, iTouches, and many other fun devices that are used as very creative tools for learning. We will soon be "rolling out" iPads in the classrooms as well for students to use. As a teacher, I can't imagine teaching anywhere else. We truly are a family here. I often call our school, our hidden little gem. I am open for any questions or comments at any time! I would love to share our school and the great things we are doing.Teacher Review13y ago2 Reviews - River Road/El Camino Del Rio Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe LOVE El Camino Del Rio!! We are a family of educators who have been in the district for a combined 36 years with friends and colleagues at nearly every school, and we would not even entertain the notion of sending our girls anywhere else. The 3/10 rating this site gives is absurd and borderline offensive. My sense is that the process by which they rate schools (read: standardized test scores) is just thinly veiled code for how white and wealthy the neighborhood's families are. I would very much like to sit down with the folks at GreatSchools to discuss how they could be so wrong about so much.Parent Review5y ago4 Reviews - Yujin Gakuen Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageYG and its 30+ year Japanese Immersion Program has been excellent for both my children! The program and its educators value and promote; structure, culture, integrity, kindness, respect and striving for excellence in not only academics but all aspects of life. The community and family involvement has always been excellent! The bond built within my eldest child’s cohort has remained special well into middle school. Most of the long term faculty and educators devote far more time, effort and resources than I’ve witnessed with other schools. The program is moving to a different location and that has been difficult for many, my family is concerned but committed to making it work. We are all hoping that YG will acquire a better and MUCH deserved permanent location soon!Parent Review1y ago8 Reviews - Corridor Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOutstanding school! My daughter has attended Corridor for 6 years and has learned so much. The school focuses on the performing arts which is right in line with my daughter's talents and interests. The teachers care and it shows in how they handle the students. The school is a small, tightly knit community. Send your kids to Corridor with confidence!Parent Review8y ago13 Reviews
