My child seems to do great at this school, the staff and teachers are great and we highly recommend this school

I have a son and a daughter at Barr and the principal and all of their teachers thus far have been phenomenal. They also have many wonderful family events throughout the year that we always look forward to attending!

Worst school I’ve ever dealt with . It’s like a prison

Canton City school district is the absolute worst in all of the state of Ohio. Their teachers are very inexperienced because they can't get funding for more experienced teachers because they had the lowest test scores in the whole state. They say they don't allow bullying but that is not true . Not only was my child bullied by both of the bus drivers children who doesn't even go to my child's School but still rides on their mother's bus. How is my child supposed to go to school and focus when every morning on the bus should be bullied. they have reverse racism. My child was being bullied and by one of the three boys that was bullying my very small girl, lied and told the teacher she was going to bring a weapon to school and they gave her out of school suspension for 10 days with no proof of her saying that. She was physically attacked with what I consider a weapon , a scissor ....harming her personal body by cutting her hair. Because the child was not white and they're afraid of racism he only got a one day in school recesse detention . the security guard of the school was never even told about it until I called the police department and spoke to a detective who said the security guard is a friend of his and an X sheriff and no he has not heard of this. Strange how my child is white and she gets an out of school suspension for 10 days for something they could not prove that she said and something I would stake my life on that she did not say. Also my child comes home with concern that whoever was watching them during recess, a grown man was taking pictures of them with his personal cell phone. He changed the story several times and I find that extremely alarming. When a child hands in a reading assignment that is homework and it's extremely sloppy and most the words are misspelled the teachers put a star and good job of top. Maybe that's a clue on why they had the lowest test scores in the state. I noticed the superintendent is more proud of go bulldogs football team and not doing very much about their curriculum. It's a serious shame when I bought a house in Canton City I've lived here 15 years and I can't just sell my house and move because the school is so bad and with inflation of everything right now, I cannot afford a private school. Shame shame
