"It’s a safe neighborhood with great schools. It is also very diverse and parents are very involved. "

"I drive to the Bronx which is only 25 minutes. It’s not bad. The traffic coming home is typical rush hour volume, but thankfully there are many route options which help with accidents and road closures."

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhatever Greatschools.org is using to calculate scores, it's nonsense. This is a fantastic small school, where the principal knows each student's name and face, their family, and goes above and beyond to be involved. Class size is very small and there are lots of resources per student to make sure everyone is keeping up. Lots of specialized support that goes beyond just disabilities, and most importantly, the kids are happy, supported, and have a community.Parent Review3y ago9 Reviews - Greenville School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent in Edgemont School District, I feel obligated to give an honest review for families considering this community. The district's reputation far exceeds its reality, and the gaps are impossible to ignore. From third grade onward, teachers lean so heavily on Google Chromebooks that genuine instruction has taken a back seat. This isn't thoughtful technology integration, it's a crutch that leaves kids distracted and intellectually passive during their most formative years.Edgemont proudly promotes "Singapore Math," but this curriculum was actually developed by a private family business in Oregon and bears little resemblance to how math is taught in Singapore itself. Students don't learn multiplication tables. Parents can't help with homework because the "Bar Models" method was never part of their own education. The program prioritizes word problems over genuine mathematical fluency. The proof is in the community: enrollment at Kumon and Russian School of Math has surged as Edgemont families pay out of pocket to compensate for what the district isn't delivering. When your own families are fleeing to outside tutors, the curriculum has failed. When parents ask for extra practice problems, teachers genuinely cannot provide them, limited entirely to photocopies from the curriculum vendor. In an age where generating custom math problems takes seconds with AI tools, Edgemont's teachers remain completely unaware. This reflects a broader culture of complacency that ultimately hurts students. For one of the wealthiest communities in New York, the lack of basic amenities is embarrassing. There is no air conditioning and no lunch program. When temperatures exceed 80 degrees, school is cancelled outright. Students lose instructional days because of mild warm weather, in a district funded by some of the highest property taxes in the state. These are not resource problems. They are leadership failures.Edgemont's brand carries weight in real estate conversations, but inside the schools the experience is one of over-reliance on technology, an ineffective math curriculum, an inflexible staff, and infrastructure that belongs in a different era. Neighboring districts, including White Plains, offer a more effective and well-rounded education. Moving to Edgemont was a mistake I genuinely regret, and I would strongly encourage prospective families to explore their alternatives carefully before committing.Parent Review3w ago4 Reviews
