"The neighborhood is very friendly and diverse. There is no lack of access to transit to get to anywhere you need to go. The subway and LIRR are both in the area along with many types of different restaurants that make choosing very easy. Safe area for the most part. "

"We’ve lived here for about 4 years and will probably be here for at least another 10 years. We have two boys now (no kids when we moved here) and will be raising them here. Schools are good, good access to the train and subway, good restaurants and bars close by. Really can’t complain about too much and much to speak of positively!"

"The train makes it easy to get to Manhattan. It's very dirty here and crowded, but the shopping is convenient. The parking is terrible. There is a lot of crime. But there are several nice parks. People are unfriendly and distrustful compared to other NY neighborhoods, but there are places with higher crime. "

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter reading the previous post about the STEM teacher, I felt compelled to post. My child has been attending PS11 since kindergarten and I have always been very pleased with my child's teachers and the school. However, this year my child has a third grade teacher who demeans children on a daily basis. She screams constantly. I have spoken to the teacher (numerous times) and administration and the problem continues. Administration did nothing. My child cries most mornings and complains of a stomachache. After speaking to others, the teacher has been like this for years. I am at my breaking point and hopefully by taking the matter higher it will be resolved. I don’t know what else to do.Parent Review3mo ago18 Reviews - Ps 152 Gwendolyn N Alleyne School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI currently work as a subpara at this school. I must say that I had an amazing experience working there so far that I get to meet and greet some of the teachers that they seem friendly and respectful. What's cool is that I used to attend there and graduated way back from 2009 that I still missed my teachers that most of them had retired/possibly no longer here and still feel nostalgic and several of my teachers I used to have are still here and teaching for a quite long time that they still recognize me. OMG! Anyways, Ms. Russo is the current principal of the school right now. She's extremely nice, quite helpful, approachable and understanding that she definitely makes the school better and works extremely hard with the school budget and everything else. I couldn't agree more! Hopefully next school year, I'll be a paraprofessional next. Stay tuned!Other Review2y ago9 Reviews - Razi School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI started working at Razi last December, and I can already call it my second home. I was welcomed with open arms from the administration, teachers, and students. I truly enjoy every second working as an administrator and as a PE teacher. I simply love everything about this school. Here at Razi the teacher-student ratio is on average 1:10 which is hard to find in other schools. Our school is also very well equipped, an amazing facility with many amenities that other schools may not typically have. As a teacher, I would like to recommend this school for all who would love to work in a welcoming and friendly environment. As a parent I strongly encourage you to consider Razi school for your child. In this school you will find a community that nurtures lifelong learners, and educators that inspire our young students.Parent Review3y ago8 Reviews - St Illuminator's Armenian Day School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOk for youger get kids If you want your child to get into a good high school you need to get tutors otherwise they will get into an ok high school. They make sure you child pass so they can move up to the next year but they are way behind other schools. You don’t realize until you see what other kids are learning from other schools and we pay for it. You expect so much more.Parent Review5y ago10 Reviews - Woodside Community School (The)

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExcellent school with teachers and administrators who genuinely care about students and respect their families. They take parental feedback seriously and they provide amazing opportunities for students to learn, grow and try new things (i.e. trips, workshops, community events). My two children (one has graduated, one is in 3rd) have thrived here- even during the Covid era- and our culture and heritage has been embraced and celebrated (as have other cultures) through meaningful projects, presentations, activities and celebrations. This is a diverse school, with an equally diverse staff. My experience with ICT classes and IEP meetings have been excellent. Parent engagement continues to improve and teachers are always accessible. Very lucky to have this gem in the neighborhood.Parent Review1y ago7 Reviews
