6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagemy child has been going here for 3years now. each year a different issue. education wise, great for my child. when it comes to other stuff like bullying, classmates, teachers not the best.. last year my kid had a few classmates that always screamed in the class... it made issues when it came to learn, food, leave the school for home... year before bullying and my kid didn't want to go in the school.... . it's a very clean school. staff are mostly friendly. I'm not sure how it would be for a kid who need extra help. if you child is good with learning, I wouldn't worry. the rest can be fixed.Parent Review11mo ago16 Reviews - Ps 72 Dr William Dorney

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis past year has been a nightmare for my son it's sad to say ever since Lori Baker left the school it has gone done the drain . Instead of engaging the kids or rewatching them everything is to take away from them . All children aren't the same in my opinion any that is a challenge is a problem teacher Don't want to do their jobs anymore which is teach and guide along with the parents helpParent Review1y ago10 Reviews - Ps 175 City Island

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would like to start off by saying if you are a person of color do not send her child here. Complete waste of money & time. My 5 year old child was denied food at lunch. Students must pay for lunch each day or sent with food from home. She was sent with money to purchase food , when she went up to buy her lunch she was told she needed to pay a balance and would only have enough a bag of chips. I escalated this matter to the lunch company and the administration, I was it was “ handled “ when I asked how they gave another apology and said it wouldn’t happen again. I received little to no communication about my child’s academics throughout the school year until I requested a parent meeting because I noticed she was making very little progress and I did not hear any concerns from the teacher. The academics are way below district , at least for elementary school. The focus is fun & sounding out letter for the entirety of the kindergarten school year. The school community and environment is not inclusive at all , there is no mention of Black History Month, when my child asked her teacher the response she was given was “ you can celebrate at home “. This place is not designed for people of color and they make that known and felt. I would not recommend this school to anyone and looking into further action.Parent Review1y ago61 Reviews - St Mary Star Of The Sea School
