"Just moved here this year. It’s on the boarder of good and bad. Quiet most times but can be very loud due to ambulances and outside noise"

"This is a family neighborhood, and I feel safe here. Some streets need to be lit a little more but overall I love the area. I have a friend whose niece goes to the university in the area and she feels safe a secure enough to run to the restaurants in the evenings. "

"Fabulous place for dogs b/c doggie park enabling them to socialize with their own kind (1 for large, 1 for small dogs), is just 10 min. away where there are also wooded trails & walkways for them in South Mountain Reservation + a beautiful walking trail around waterfront at South Mt. Recreation Center. They can even be featured in an annual Halloween Doggie Parade there. Millburn Petsmart is 15 min. away & other groomers within 10 min. I don’t know anything about the rest but at least in Ivy Hill area of Upper Vailsburg where I’ve lived a couple of decades, most people walk their dogs leashed & clean up behind them. Nearest of numerous parks to walk them in are 5 min. walks to 5 min. drive away. The neighborhoods are quiet & peaceful for the most part."

"Commute is not bad because there is access to public transportation and Ubers. Walking distance is feasible, but not so safe as in any where. Just can’t let down your guard."

"There is a good mix of incomes and cultures. It is very easy to see how the neighborhood is changing because houses on some streets have beautifully manicured lawns and other streets have unkempt yards and abandoned houses. There are many houses being renovated and seems to be an influx of people who wish to improve the neighborhood "

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI believe that the teachers in this particular school teach effectively. They are knowledgable as well as caring. I have never experience a principle so caring, protective and serious about our children. Please know that this is the type of evidence is being shown to me everyday for 4 years.Parent Review15y ago1 Reviews - Mount Vernon Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI recently graduated from this school, and my experience was HORRIBLE. I attended that school since Kindergarten, and I always had to deal with rude students, rude teachers, and rude staff. Not to mention, one of the ELA teachers treated me like she had something against me. For example, throughout most of my 8th grade year, she NEVER said my name. I absolutely HATED going here and so will your children. I could go all day talking about how bad this school is. Like oh my GOD, the amount of built up anger I had while walking through those hallways. OH, and there is more! The teachers pick favorites, and they make no effort to hide it. The principal seemed to have something against me as well. There is still so much I could say, I am so glad that I graduated. FINALLY. And the school is dirty! They have rats and roaches!Other Review9mo ago11 Reviews - Ivy Hill Elementary School
