My son attended Highland Creek Elementary from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Attending this school was like hitting the lottery at a top~rated private school. Thanks to Principal Saxton’s leadership, this school is set up like a healthy family with him as the loving parent whose character and values impact every aspect of the school’s environment. The teachers care and encourage students to strive for excellence. Mr. Anderson ensures order and safety. There is joy among the student body due to Principal Saxton and the teachers creating an attitude of oneness. HCE helped give my son a great start in life and prepared him for the increased responsibility of middle school. Thank you Principal Saxton, Ms. Bullis, Ms Kern, Ms. Knight, Ms. Essler, Ms. Wright, Ms. Burnett, Ms. McNinch, Ms. Judd, Mr. Anderson, Debbie in the front office and all of Highland Creek staff for giving my son Layden such a positive and memorable experience. My prayers are with you and may God continue to bless you and this school.

This school’s opportunities and communication skills are very lacking. Every year, without fail, I’ve had issues with my schedule, which only adds more stress on top of preparing for college. It takes multiple emails, phone calls, and in person visits, often involving my parents, just to get things resolved. The lack of communication and organization makes situations that should be simple much more stressful than necessary.In my personal experience, many teachers either don’t teach effectively or lack the enthusiasm and effort needed to properly prepare their students. Sure, it can be fun when you barely do anything in class, but it becomes a problem when you get to college and realize you don’t understand the material because you were never properly taught it. I feel like this school underprepares its students academically and does not do enough to make sure they are ready for what comes after high school.And don’t even get me started on administration. I pride myself on being a good student. I’m involved in extracurriculars, NHS, student council, the whole shebang, so my criticism isn’t coming from someone who is simply upset about getting in trouble or not getting their way. I’ve been at this school since sixth grade and am now a senior, so I’ve had plenty of time to see how things are handled.Every year, administration says they are going to crack down on things like the uniform and phone policies. However, without fail, they eventually stop enforcing those rules consistently. Then, toward the end of the year, they suddenly start enforcing them again and seem surprised when students don’t take the rules seriously. If the rules were enforced consistently throughout the year, I think students would be much more likely to respect them.At times, I would even say the administration can be somewhat unprofessional. Administration has changed almost every year since I’ve been here, which only makes the existing communication issues worse. Constantly having new people in those positions makes it difficult to establish consistency, accountability, and effective communication.Overall, I feel like this school has a lot of potential, but the lack of communication, consistency, and academic preparation makes the experience much more stressful than it needs to be. As someone who has been here since sixth grade and is now preparing to graduate, I think these are issues that genuinely need to be addressed.

I wanted to share how thankful I am for our experience at W.R. Odell Primary this year. From the very beginning, we felt genuinely welcomed. The school has a strong sense of community: warm, supportive, and truly connected. Families, teachers, and staff work together in a way that makes the school feel safe, inclusive, and full of positive energy. You can really see that everyone is committed to helping the children grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.My son’s classroom has been another wonderful part of this journey. It’s an environment that feels organized, engaging, and calm, exactly what young learners need. The teacher create a space where the children feel confident, encouraged, and curious. I love how the classroom blends structure with creativity, giving the students clear routines while still allowing them to explore, try new things, and express themselves. My son comes home happy, excited about what he learned, and proud of the little achievements he makes each day.I am truly grateful for the care, dedication, and kindness we’ve received. I see very good improvement of my kid who is going to kindergarten . He started speaking so well and describing all activities happening in school and i see very good improvement in writing as well.
