"The area seems to have a lot of people on drugs that are walkers. I wouldn’t send my children to the store by walking at all. "

"I have been in this area for almost 6 years and love it. You are at the hub of 3 great little neighborhoods: Charondolet, Holly Hills and Dutch Town. How can you go wrong! You are ten minutes from downtown or south county. These quaint neighborhoods always have festivals, concerts and events in the parks as well as huge community yardsales and events. There is a neighborhood watch group that keeps you up-to-date via email on anything that might be going on in town. Minutes from multiple parks, shopping and anything you could want! City living without the hustle and bustle of the city."

"The neighborhood of Carondolet is charming, but can be shady. Most people just want a decent place to live and try to take care of their property the best they can. The schools are ridiculous, not great for school age children. Casino business is pushing the neighborhood to clean it up a bit. I lived at this particular house and while it was truly loved, it was just too much work for us. The place was vandalized within 2 weeks of us moving, right down to the pipes, cabinets, and windows...how sad. But I have to say, when we went on vacation, nothing was ever bothered. Never had issue with our cars either. On a positive note, the YMCA facility and the park are phenomenal! Small shopping center with Schnucks, Lowe's, BK, Starbucks, Great Clips, etc. is within walking distance for anyone willing. Local clinic is convenient and clean. That being said, it's South City."

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI agree with the previous poster. This school does not have a steady leadership in place. . Last school year, the year was started with one principal that was eventually replaced with a different one around the middle of the school year. There are too many changes in principals here, and maybe some teachers too. Plus, the teachers are so overwhelmed with paperwork and bad kids in the room, they have no time for personalized anything with your child. They are too busy putting out fires, and trying to calm the storm. Ive seen some very disrespectful kids, talking back to the teachers and displaying thuglike behavior and bullying other children, and there is nothing done. Kids are roaming and running the halls. My child has said that some of them slam doors, throw things, and then walk out of class. IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. This is a shame. The teachers hands are tied. Some bright spots however, are the preschool classes, and the kindergarden classes. If you send your child here, I probably would not send them past kindergarden ( or even preschool since it is free). If you can afford it, I would definitely move and put them in a better school after they attend free preschool and maybe the kindergarden The teachers are doing the best that they can, but they simply cannot keep up with all of the paperwork they have to do and the large numbers of bad problem kids with no hometraining that they have to deal with in their class every day. Mines will be leaving this school when I move in a couple of months, and we can't wait.Parent Review10y ago5 Reviews - Lyon At Blow Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'd Give this School a 5 Because of the Principal here . I think she needs a New Scenery and to be Trained all over again on How to work well with Staff and Parents. The Teachers Do the best that they can here and don't get enough credit for it.Parent Review6y ago5 Reviews
