NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOldfields School has helped my daughter not only survive her high school years, but to truly thrive! As a Junior in her third year at the school, we could not ask for a better experience. While we were initially attracted to the school for the incredible equestrian program, we soon found that Oldfields School could provide the whole package for success for our daughter. As you can see in other reviews, the school did come very close to closing 3 years ago. My family became aware of the school right as they were at the beginning of the rebuilding process. This means that my daughter is one of the original students to be a part of this re-birth of the school. I can say, unequivicably, that every teacher, administrator, and staff member have put their heart and soul into making this school strong, and a great place for girls to learn. They have worked tirelessly to provide exceptional academics, find opportunities for learning and growth both in and out of the classroom, and to create an atmosphere of community.Academically, my daughter has been challenged at exactly the right level for her. She has been offered a wide variety of classes beyond those required as core curriculum, including genetics, women's studies, high-level art, and an equine program that is unparalleled and goes far beyond riding. She often tells me that she has fun in the classroom, and marvels at how much she has learned while the teachers make an environment that caters to each individual student and their learning style. In the equestrian program, my daughter is a rider, mainly focused on dressage. She rides multiple times every week, but also participates in their equine concentration classes, where she learns about horse and rider biomechanics, horse care, the horse industry in many disciplines, farrier work, and SO much more! There are opportunities to participate on IEA teams, and to go off property for shows and events. My daughter also boards at the school 3 nights per week. We started with this to relieve the hour-long drive back and forth from our house, but soon discovered that staying in the dorms is just an extension of incredible opportunity for learning, independence, and leadership. It gives her the structure of nightly study-halls to keep up with academics, but also teaches her about living with others, being responsible, and yes- doing her own laundry!Overall, I cannot recommend this school highly enough!Parent Review7mo ago15 Reviews
